Halo Infinite players are set to receive a new rifle, known as the MA5K Avenger, on November 5. The new weapon comes alongside the forthcoming Halo Infinite update titled Operation: Great Journey.
First released on December 8, 2021, Halo Infinite is a well-received FPS title from developer Halo Studios (formerly called 343 Industries). Over the past few years, various updates have periodically refreshed the content in the game and kept new and returning players engaged. Another such update is set to drop next week, adding an array of new things to the sci-fi game, ranging from equipment to gameplay mechanics. Speaking of new items, it turns out that the brand-new weapon Halo Infinite devs were recently teasing for the game has finally been revealed.
As part of the Winter 2024 update, the MA5K Avenger, which was featured in the best-selling Halo novel adaptation called Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, will arrive in Halo Infinite on November 5. It is described as a fully automatic rifle with a high rate-of-fire, increased magazine size, and quick reload speeds. Moreover, the gun is suitable for engaging in close quarters combat. Starting with the Operation: Great Journey content drop, the MA5K Avenger will be available across SMG-class weapon racks in the game. It will also be the first weapon in the forthcoming Delta Arena playlist and the second weapon in certain instances of the Firefight mode. Amusingly, the announcement post for the update contains an image that gives a nod to the cover of the 2006 novel and features Spartan-III soldiers brandishing the MA5K Avenger.
New Halo Infinite Weapon Confirmed to be Headlining the Update Alongside Several Other Fresh Additions
After a period of speculation, the MA5K Avenger has been revealed to be one of the prominent attractions of the forthcoming content update. Besides this new rifle, there are plenty of other things that fans can be excited about. This includes a Halo 2-inspired playlist with legacy movement support, an option to choose the third-person perspective in Halo Infinite's Firefight mode, and some new Forge features. A number of other weapons and equipment, namely VK78 Commando, MK50 Sidekick, Active Camo, and Thruster are also planned to get tweaks to balance out the player experience.
As Halo Infinite completes its third anniversary in December, Halo fans grow curious about the future of the franchise, with two different kinds of projects circulating in the news. While on one hand, there are whispers about a Halo: Combat Evolved remake being in development, on the other hand, Halo Studios's job listings have more or less confirmed Halo 7 to be in the works. Keeping that in mind, the next few years could be really intriguing for the fans as these rumored projects take their final shape and hopefully edge closer to being officially announced.
