Summary

  • Halo Infinite Season 5 is expected to launch on October 18, potentially bringing new multiplayer maps and a PvE mode like Firefight.
  • Leaks suggest the new maps will include "Forbidden" set on Zeta Halo and "Crystal Caves" featuring a claustrophobic cave with crystals.
  • Additional leaked features include the return of the Falcon vehicle, a new weapon called the Mutilator, and potential game modes like VIP and Extraction.

Halo Infinite has had quite the divisive year and a half. When Halo Infinite first launched back in November 2021, initial reactions from both fans and critics were very positive, claiming that the game was a long-awaited return to form for the franchise. But Halo Infinite's ambitious live-service model has been its unfortunate downfall, since 343 Industries hasn't supported the game with nearly enough content.

Things might be looking up for Halo Infinite now. Slowly but surely, 343 Industries is making Halo Infinite the game it always should have been, and the game that fans have always wanted. Staples of the Halo franchise like Forge and campaign co-op have finally been added to Halo Infinite, and 343 Industries seems to still have an optimistic outlook on the game's future, promising that more content is on the way soon. On October 18, fans will get to see that for themselves, with Halo Infinite Season 5 likely to drop that day.

Halo Infinite Season 5 Is Set to Drop on October 18

Though it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, all signs are pointing toward October 18 as Halo Infinite Season 5's launch date, since it's usually four months between each season, and the in-game timer agrees with that. Similarly, 343 Industries hasn't officially announced any of Season 5's new content, its theme, or really anything about it, though that doesn't mean it hasn't teased some upcoming features. It helps that leaks have already predicted what's to come.

According to the recent leaks, Halo Infinite Season 5 is set to add at least two new multiplayer maps. The first of these will allegedly be called "Forbidden," and could possibly be a map set on Zeta Halo, with a leaked image showing a Forerunner-style structure covered in vines and greenery. A 4v4 map currently nicknamed "Crystal Caves" could also appear in Season 5, pitting teams against one another in a claustrophobic cave littered with pink Needler-like crystals. Recent leaks also suggest that two new Forge Canvas maps could also be coming with the upcoming season, apparently named "Barrage" and "Permafrost." The former will reportedly offer a desert wasteland environment, while the latter will offer a vast field of snow and ice.

A few more leaks have resurfaced about potential Halo Infinite Season 5 inclusions, though these are extremely speculative, and should be taken with an even greater pinch of salt than those just mentioned. 343 Industries has allegedly been working on a new PvE mode for a while now, and many fans think that it's going to be the return of the beloved Firefight horde mode. Though there's practically no evidence to support it, there's always a possibility that Season 5 could finally be the one that brings Firefight to Halo Infinite. VIP and Extraction game modes are also rumored to be coming at some point in the near future.

A few other features have been leaked for a while now, and they've still yet to appear in the game. The Falcon will reportedly make its return soon, which will be an excellent addition to larger modes like Big Team Battle. A new weapon named the Mutilator is also apparently in the works. This weapon is allegedly some kind of Banished double-barreled shotgun that has some kind of mini Gravity Hammer on the front, capable of pushing foes away quickly. Of course, there's a big chance that the majority of the leaks won't make it to Halo Infinite in Season 5, but even if just a few of them do, October 18 is still going to be an exciting day for fans.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
