Halo Studios has teased a potential new type of weapon in its Operation Shadows trailer for Halo Infinite. Operation Shadows will launch on August 5 as the newest update for Halo Infinite, and it's expected to bring a slew of new content, including new modes, cosmetics, and another Operation Pass.

Released on July 8, Halo Infinite Operation Reclaimer, the game's latest operation, calls back to Halo 4 with a number of returning armor sets. In addition, Operation Reclaimer introduced the S&D Extraction mode, new Action Sack modes, a new Operation Pass, and free rewards via a login bonus event. Operation Reclaimer was confirmed to end on August 5, and with only a week left before the season ends, Halo Studios has begun to tease what's next for Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite’s Grifball Should Herald the Return of Another Underrated Game Mode

The return of the fan-favorite game mode Grifball in Halo Infinite should inspire Halo Studios to bring back an underrated Halo 4 game mode.

Halo Studios released the new "Operatives, Report In" trailer for Halo Infinite on Twitter and YouTube to tease new armor and a potential new weapon for Operation Shadows. The teaser trailer is only 15 seconds long, but it does show a Spartan wielding what appears to be a rifle or SMG with a large green orb attached where sights or a scope would normally be. However, finer details on the new armor and weapon are obscured, likely fitting with the theme of Operation Shadows. When fans asked about the new weapon on Twitter, the Halo Studios Twitter account simply replied with "nothing" or dodged the question to keep fans in suspense. Despite some complaints from Halo Infinite players about a lack of support, excitement regarding the new Operation appears to be high in the player base.

Halo Infinite Operation Shadows Trailer Teases a Potential New Weapon

A full reveal of Halo Infinite Operation Shadows is expected soon, but it's clear that speculation about what the season will hold for the game will be rampant until then. At the very least, Operation Shadows is expected to bring new armor, modes, and a new Operation Pass, similarly to past Operations in Halo Infinite. The base Halo Infinite Operation Pass is free, but players can upgrade to the Premium Operation Pass for additional rewards. What's more, the Halo Infinite shop will likely be updated with new armor and cosmetics that players can buy right away.

The future of Halo Infinite still appears to be in question, since there are rumors of new Halo projects in the works, including a potential Halo: Combat Evolved remake and a possible Halo Infinite follow-up game. In addition, Halo Studios is retiring Halo Infinite from the Halo Championship Series once this year's event ends on October 26. Halo Infinite has served as the official title for the Halo Championship Series ever since the competition was relaunched alongside the game in late 2021. The game being taken off of the Halo Championship Series could be an indicator that the Halo series may be moving to a new game in the near future, but Halo Studios has not directly confirmed a timeframe for when fans can expect a new Halo entry to arrive.
