The PlayStation 5 is one of many consoles that simulation titles can be enjoyed on and while some players may say that those enjoying a simulation game with a controller may be in for an easier time, there are many simulation games even on the PS5, which are a lot harder to play. Therefore, these are by far the hardest simulation games on the PlayStation 5, ranked using GameFAQ.

8 Medieval Dynasty

Difficulty: Easy 2/5

Medieval Dynasty is an open-world strategy title that simulates the medieval period of time as the player gradually grows their character from a simple farmer or hunter who eventually has the experience to become the head of a town. While some players have deemed the normal difficulty of Medieval Dynasty as being quite easy, those that have challenged themselves with the harder difficulty options have found the game near impossible to survive.

This is due to the town being in higher demand for every single resource that was available in Medieval Dynasty. Players will be constantly looking for ways to increase the amount of resources they have, as well as find their town constantly under attack from bandits. Players who can't keep up with these demands are in for one of the hardest simulation experiences on the PlayStation 5.

7 Two Point Hospital

Difficulty: Just Right/Tough 3/5

At first glance, Two Point Hospital looks like a bubbly and joyful management simulation title that players will enjoy playing casually on their PlayStation console. In Two Point Hospital, players will deal with the variety of hilarious illnesses their patients come in with, as they build the right facilities around them.

However, as players unlock the other available buildings during the somewhat campaign of Two Point Hospital, players will have to start risking the lives of those they are supposed to be treating to make sure they can treat some of the most dangerous cases first. The player's hospitals will quickly fall into chaos as emergency cases walk through the door that keeps every employee on their toes.

6 Farming Simulator 22

Difficulty: Just Right/Tough 3/5

As mentioned, some of the hardest simulation games that players can enjoy on the PlayStation 5 are those that try to be as realistic as possible. The Farming Simulator franchise is a perfect example of this, as even the console version of Farming Simulator 22 has moments that leave players stumped. With new ways to farm in Farming Simulator 22, players have been forced to learn even more things in an already challenging simulation.

This has led many players to instead enjoy the game with an unlimited amount of money, or turn off various elements of farming such as crop destruction. However, those who are truly after a hardcore farming experience should look no further than all the bells and whistles that make up Farming Simulator 22.

5 Frostpunk

Difficulty: Tough 4/5

Frostpunk is a title many players were surprised to see added to the PlayStation 5. The society strategy survival simulation title isn't any easier on the console, with players still struggling to prepare for the harsh winter that approaches the last city standing in Frostpunk.

Players are still able to look across their surviving city and attempt to make the right choices to see their people living on, though, in a world covered in snow, it's no surprise to see this as one of the hardest simulation games on the PS5 with very little resources to collect while also trying to keep the people happy and not overworking them.

4 Green Hell

Difficulty: Tough 4/5

Realism continues to create some of the hardest simulation experiences for players who are looking to combine a simulated title with also surviving. Green Hell does exactly that and, as its name suggests, many players are likely to find the Amazon Jungle they are left to explore to be their own world of Hell.

Survival titles like this work great on the PlayStation 5, but that doesn't stop this simulation title from being one of the hardest to play, especially as players will need to learn for themselves how they are supposed to defend themselves against the various dangers of the jungle while also keeping their needs filled.

3 Cities: Skylines

Difficulty: Tough/Unforgiving 4/5

Out of all the available simulation games on the PlayStation 5, another incredibly hard option for players is Cities: Skylines. While many players still enjoy this city-building simulation title, many players forget the uphill battle of figuring out what the best sort of road is, setting up education and emergency services for their citizens, and figuring out how the city should expand in the hopes of keeping everyone happy.

2 Crusader Kings 3

Difficulty: Tough/Unforgiving 5/5

Crusader Kings 3 is another interesting simulation game that players didn't expect to come to the PlayStation 5 as many players had first enjoyed it on the PC. In true Paradox Interactive fashion, Crusader Kings 3 is another grand strategy title that challenges players through plenty of failed attempts to run their own kingdom. Players are likely to have replayed this game multiple times through failed attempts in the hopes of eventually having a kingdom they can confidently run without the fear of being invaded.

As Crusader Kings 3 simulates the medieval age, as well as the time of the Vikings and other periods of time during then, players not only wage wars against other lands, but also need to manage their internal affairs with attempted assassinations, banquets, and plenty of family issues too.

1 RimWorld

Difficulty: Unforgiving 5/5

RimWorld is an interesting simulation game, as players look after colonists on an alien planet that has since arrived on the PlayStation 5 with the game being originally available only on PC. Building up their colony is only one part of the problem in one of the hardest simulation games available, as things can go south very quickly.

Some days of RimWorld can be quite relaxed if players have managed to make the perfect base for their colonists, though occasionally a raid may occur that sees groups of foes – both human and monstrous – attempt to break into the player's base and murder their colonists. When it isn't dangerous outside, fights can happen between the people that make up the player's colony, which can be just as deadly as any large alien. Not to mention that food shortages can make people do strange things.
