Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is known for its frequent in-game events. Whether that be a Christmas-themed celebration or Halloween shenanigans, Hogwarts Mystery is consistently giving players more to do in the game. The latest event, coming to the game this month, is for the Celestial Ball, and will add some of the first dating elements to Hogwarts Mystery.
In this limited time side quest, fourth year students and above will have a chance to participate in the Celestial Ball dance. They will have to complete a variety of tasks along the way, such as decorating for the event as well as choosing an outfit with the help of Ravenclaw student Andre Egwu. They will also have to ask one of their friends to be their date.
According to Jam City, the friends players will have to choose from to be their Celestial Ball date include Tulip, Barnaby, Rowan, Ben, Merula, and Penny. However, other characters will also be available for players to choose from. It's unclear if any past choices in the game will make certain characters reject the player or be more likely to accept their invitation, but it seems as though players can literally just pick whoever they want to go to dance with.
Jam City also didn't provide a start or end date for the Celestial Ball dance. From our own testing, it doesn't appear as though the event is live in the game just yet, but it could be rolling out to players in waves. Oftentimes Hogwarts Mystery players in certain regions will receive earlier access to events and new chapters than other Hogwarts Mystery players, so that could very well be the case here.
The Celestial Ball event lets players "date" a friend in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, and that may very well be enough to draw some lapsed players back into the game. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how the main story continues to develop moving forward, and what the true fate of the player character's brother Jacob is.
