Although the successful Hogwarts Legacy game gave players and fans plenty of reasons to dive into the magical world of Harry Potter, a key component of the universe was missing from its rightful place. Despite the wonder of magic and the alluring world it manages to build, the absence of Quidditch meant that some series fans were never fully satisfied. Now though, WB Games and developer Unbroken Studios seem destined to right this wrong with the announcement of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

Described as a fast-paced, competitive multiplayer game featuring the world’s most iconic magical sport, this will be an entirely standalone experience focused entirely on Quidditch. Players will be given the freedom to create personalized characters to jump onto flying broomsticks, with Unbroken Studios having spent several years working on the game now. Of course, the fact that it will plug a pretty glaring gap that was in Hogwarts Legacy will see plenty of attention, especially when there is an upcoming playtest for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions to be a part of.

As per the official FAQ for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, the game will be in limited playtests in the not-too-distant future. Interested players can sign up for the chance to join both current and future play tests through the game's official website. Once there, they'll need to confirm that they are at least 18 years old and then sign in with a WB Games account. Next, they'll have to provide some basic information about their gaming habits, such as the type of games that they like to play and their platforms of choice. It's all relatively simple, though it's important to note that registration does not guarantee entry.

The game, which will launch on both PC and consoles, does not yet have a release date. However, the developers did share more about what to expect from Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. As a multiplayer affair, a persistent internet connection is required, and players can either join the fun solo or team up with friends or others online. Outside of the sport of Quidditch, there is set to be other kinds of broomstick adventures that will be possible in the game.

Just like Hogwarts Legacy, which performed beyond expectations, the project has little association with the controversial author J.K. Rowling. While the game is inspired by the author's original stories, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions aims to be a new and immersive experience that is being put together by developers who are fans and have been inspired by the Wizarding World.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will launch on PC and consoles. No release date has been set just yet.
