Beat the Game Twice

In order to unlock the true ending, there are several steps that must be completed. The first one is to beat the game once on any difficulty. This requires players to beat the Sorrow in the Modern Warfare Department. Upon clearing this department, players will get a cutscene. Death's attempt to go on a vacation fails, and he finds himself back in his office.

During the next attempt, players will notice that the game continues even after clearing the Modern Warfare Department. Upon beating the game once, two more departments become available. Players must clear both of these departments, including Time in the Inevitable Time Department. If players manage to clear both of these departments, they will see a new cutscene.

Unlock All Three Quantum Rift Lockers

While it may seem like the previous cutscene was the true ending, it is not. While talking to various employees at Death Inc, players will hear chatter about strange lockers and what Time is doing. During the next run, there will be three lockers that will show up. These lockers have a strange visual effect all over, so it is very hard for players to miss them. The locations of these lockers are as follows.

  • Shop (Requires 1 Prismium to unlock)
  • Breakroom (Requires 3 Golden Anima to unlock)
  • In the hallway just before fighting any Thanager (department doesn't matter, no currency needed to unlock)

Each locker contains one of three pieces that make up a medallion. This medallion cannot be equipped and cannot be used as a weapon. There is nothing that players need to do with them other than gather them. Once all three pieces have been gathered, defeat Time once again. The dialogue will be noticeably different if players have found all pieces of the medallion.

The previous ending will play, but it will change as the medallion comes together and the true antagonist of the game is revealed. After the cutscene ends, players will be in a brand-new area. Move forward to fight the true final boss of the game. This boss is very challenging, so be prepared for a fight. If players manage to beat the final boss, they will have successfully completed Have a Nice Death and will get to enjoy the true ending.

Have a Nice Death is available now on Nintendo Switch and Steam.
