- The expansion set will be revealed on October 10, potentially revealing whether the Monk class is coming to the game.
Hearthstone may have just teased the debut of the Monk class for the digital collectible card game. This hint can be spotted in the teaser Hearthstone recently shared ahead of its third and final expansion for 2024, which will be announced on October 10.
The Year of the Pegasus in Hearthstone is well underway, with the mini-set for its second expansion now available for players to purchase with gold or runestones. That means the third and final expansion for the year is just around the corner – and a teaser at the beginning of the year suggested the set would have a celestial, starry theme.
Hearthstone's New Cosmetic Type is a Logical Progression From World of Warcraft
Rumors abound surrounding the possible addition of pets to the digital card game of Hearthstone, ten years after its release.
However, Hearthstone’s most recent teaser may have confirmed more than just the expansion’s theme. On Twitter, Hearthstone shared a short video of several content creators looking “starstruck” at something seen in a starry field behind what appears to be an observatory wall. While this obviously doubles down on the celestial theme hinted at the beginning of the year, all the content creators are also wearing curious garments reminiscent of a Monk’s robes. While it is far from confirmation, this seems to suggest the Monk class could finally be coming to Hearthstone.
Is the Monk Class Finally Coming to Hearthstone?
Besides the Dracthyr-only Evoker class added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Monk is officially the only WoW class that is not available in Hearthstone. In the MMO, Monks are known for their fast movement speeds, martial arts, mastery of Chi, and thanks to Chen Stormstout, alcoholic brews. Were they to make the jump to Hearthstone, its cards and keywords would likely evoke these major themes – and Chen would almost certainly be its default hero.
A celestial Hearthstone set would be the perfect time to add the Monk class. They are known for their close connection to the August Celestials, as their martial arts styles are inspired by and named after them. What’s more, the Death Knight – the last class added to Hearthstone – was also added during the third set of 2022, almost exactly 2 years before when this expansion will likely drop.
That said, it is entirely possible this hint may not be for a new Monk class. Technically, the robes could be hinting towards the August Celestial theme, but without the class coming in the expansion – or the garb could be completely unrelated. Even so, the content creators’ outfits seem a little too noteworthy to discredit them as a clue, so fans will have to tune in to the official announcement on October 10 to find out what’s really happening next in Hearthstone.
