Gardening: Fertilizer Quest Guide

To unlock basic fertilizer in Heartopia, players must upgrade the Gardening Hobby to level 2. They will receive a call from Blanc immediately after upgrading their hobby. At the end of this call, players should select "Leave it to me!" when asked to test the fertilizer.

Answering this way will have Blanc start the Gardening: Fertilizer quest and send players the fertilizer crafting recipe. Fertilizer is a simple recipe that only requires two early-game resources:

  • Timber
  • Weed

Timber can be gathered from chopping trees, while weeds can be picked from your crop plots. Once you've gathered enough of each, craft two bags of fertilizer and place them on two of your growing crops. Crops with fertilizer will have small dots in their dirt to distinguish them from unfertilized crops.

Doing this will complete the Gardening: Fertilizer quest. Players will now own the fertilizer crafting recipe, so they can craft as much as they'd like as long as they have the required resources.

Completing this quest will activate the Gardening: Growth Booster quest, which will teach you how to make your crops grow faster.

Fertilizer can be obtained in Heartopia by crafting it yourself or purchasing it from Blanc's gardening shop. To craft fertilizer, you'll use the same recipe received from Blanc in the Gardening: Fertilizer quest and any worktable.

If you want to save resources or have gold to spare, Blanc will sell basic fertilizer in his shop for 160 gold per bag. He has 25 bags in stock at one time. Players who purchase his entire stock will need to wait for his shop to refresh before purchasing more.

In addition, Blanc will also sell Quality Fertilizer and Top Fertilizer in his store after players reach higher levels in the gardening hobby. The high-quality fertilizers are unlocked at the following gardening hobby levels:

  • Quality Fertilizer unlocks at level 5 and sells for 460 gold.
  • Top Fertilizer unlocks at level 7 and sells for 1,000 gold.

How to Use Fertilizer in Heartopia

You can use fertilizer in the same way that you plant your crops. Open up your inventory, tap on the fertilizer's icon, and select hold. This will put the bag of fertilizer in your hands.

While holding the fertilizer, focus on the crop you want to fertilize. The edges of the plant you're currently selecting will be highlighted with yellow corners. Click on the fertilizer icon on your screen to fertilize the selected plant.
