If you’ve spent some time exploring Heartopia, you’ve probably noticed just how many insects are hiding around town. Insect catching is a relaxing hobby where you can slow down, walk around, and catch bugs while earning some Gold on the side. There are dozens of insects to catch in the game, and some are also needed to complete Life Log missions.

One insect that trips a lot of players up is the Purple Emperor. Heartopians will need to find it on Day 12, and it’s not the easiest to catch. Heartopia is huge, the Purple Emperor is only found in certain locations, and to make things even more annoying, it only spawns in specific weather. It can feel frustrating at first, but once you know where to look and when to go, catching it becomes much easier. Below, we will walk you through exactly how to find the Purple Emperor in Heartopia.

Purple Emperor Location in Heartopia

purple emperor mission heartopia

Players will get the task to catch a Purple Emperor on Day 12 of the New Life Log. For this mission, the game specifically asks you to catch a Purple Emperor with at least a two-star rarity.

Before you start looking for it, make sure your Insect Catching hobby is at level three. You won’t be able to catch a Purple Emperor before that. If you’re not there yet, you can keep catching the insects you already have access to. This is the easiest way to level up the Insect Catching hobby.

The Purple Emperor only spawns in the Flower Field and Whale Mountain during sunny or rainbow weather between 12 PM and 12 AM. So your first step is to head to a bus stop and fast travel to either of these locations to begin the bug-catching hunt.

If you are unsure about the current in-game time, you can tap the smartwatch icon at the top of the screen to check it.

After you arrive, equip your Insect Net and start looking around. The Purple Emperor looks like a butterfly with bright purple wings, so it’s fairly easy to spot. When you see it, use your Insect Net to shoot bubbles at it and catch it.

When it comes to rarity, remember that the Life Log mission requires you to catch a two-star or higher Purple Emperor. This part is completely luck-based. Even if you find the right insect, there’s no guarantee it will be the rarity you need.
