Hell Is Us is arguably one of the more challenging games releasing in 2025. While its combat isn't overly complex and doesn't feature really tough boss battles, its lack of hand-holding means that players need to pay attention to their surroundings and what they're told if they want to reach the credits. In this guide, I'll explain how long Hell Is Us takes to beat, including the length of each of its acts, so you know what you expect as you're playing through the game for yourself.
Hell Is Us: How to Open the Military Camp Gate in Acasa Marshes (APC Safe Code)
There's a military camp in Acasa Marshes that can't be accessed unless you know the gate code. Here's the APC Safe Code in Hell Is Us.
How Long Does Hell Is Us Take to Beat?
In my playthrough, it took just over 12 hours to reach the end of Hell Is Us. For this, I played on normal difficulty and solved the puzzles for myself. If you play on a higher difficulty, you may find that some of the combat slows your progress down. Similarly, if you're not the best at solving puzzles without some clues, you could add a few hours to your completion time of Hell Is Us, as there is no waymarker or hints system to help you if you don't know where to go next or what a puzzle's solution is.
I only closed some of the Timeloops in the game, and didn't complete all the Mysteries or Good Deeds. Completing absolutely everything in the game will take another seven to 10 hours to tick off, as some of the puzzles are really tricky and require a lot of going to different places around the map. Finding and opening all the Lymbic Chests can take a long time, too, as they're well-hidden.
How Many Acts Are There in Hell Is Us & How Long Do They Take to Beat?
Hell Is Us has three acts, but they're all very different in length. The first act takes about three hours to beat, as it makes up about a quarter to a third of the actual main questline, but everything is straightforward as the game eases you into the experience.
Act 2 will take you around seven to nine hours to beat, depending on how good you are with puzzles and how much of the side content you do, such as the Good Deeds, Mysteries, and Timeloops dotted throughout the world. Act 2 is by far the longest of the three acts in the game.
The third and final act is considerably shorter than the first two acts and mainly consists of the final quest or 'dungeon' that you'll explore. Right at the beginning of Act 3, you'll essentially hit a point of no return, so before you head to the first 'objective' it's worth upgrading your gear, completing any of the side content you've yet to do, and making sure you're stashed up with healing supplies and other consumables before advancing. Completing Act 3 will take you around two hours to beat.
Hell Is Us has different 'Investigations' that essentially act as its main quests. I've included which investigations fall under each act below.
Act 1
- Family Reunion
- Family Legacy
Act 2
- Searching for the Keystone of Rage
- Searching for the Keystone of Ecstasy
- Searching for the Keystone of Terror
Act 3
- Into the Unknown
As I've noted above, however, your mileage in Hell Is Us will depend on how tough you find the puzzles. Those in Acts 2 and 3 can be real head-scratchers and involve a bit of backtracking and note-taking, so if this isn't something you're normally a fan of (or very good at) you're probably going to take longer to beat the game than what I've listed here.
