As you're exploring the different regions of Hell Is Us' rendition of Earth, you'll likely see some large orbs surrounded by dark and light energy. These are Timeloops, and they play a pretty significant part during your time in the game, especially when it comes to exploring the different regions. While they're initially swarmed in mystery, once you understand how their mechanics work, they're pretty straightforward to take care of. In this guide, I'll explain how to enter Timeloops, how to solve the 'too dangerous to enter' message, and how to take care of them once and for all in Hell Is Us.
Hell is Us Dev Talks Creating a Gritty World of Emotions
The Best War Games speaks with Hell is Us creative director/art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête about its dark, gritty world focused on emotions.
What Are Timeloops in Hell Is Us?
Timeloops are black orbs with disturbances around them that you'll find in different regions of the world in Hell Is Us. These are responsible for spawning creatures in the regions, and they'll continue to do so until you've taken care of them.
How to Make Timeloops Safe to Enter in Hell Is Us
When you first try to enter a Timeloop, most likely the one in Acasa Marshes near the town of Jova, you'll get an error message that says "This Timeloop is too dangerous to enter." The Timeloop will continue to give this warning message until you've defeated all of the Timeloop Guardians in the surrounding area.
How to Find Timeloop Guardians in Hell Is Us
You'll likely find some Timeloop Guardians as you work on some of the main objectives. However, once you've solved Pentos Algea's Tomb puzzle, you'll get an item from Gildas at the Watcher's Nest called the Guardian Detector.
Once equipped in your item bar, using it will cause a black line of liquid to appear in the air and guide you to the nearest Timeloop Guardian.
The line guiding you to the nearest Guardian doesn't last for a long time, so you may need to use it multiple times to find just one Guardian.
Once you've cleared all the Timeloop Guardians in an area, you'll be able to interact with and enter the Timeloop.
How to Close Timeloops in Hell Is Us
There are three different types of Timeloop in Hell Is Us, and each type needs a corresponding type of Amine Prism to close them. These are:
- Thêta
- Sigma
- Rhô
As long as you have the correct Amine Prism for the Timeloop, you can interact with your drone and place the corresponding Amine Prism onto it. Your drone will then carry it into the middle of the Timeloop, closing it permanently.
It's worth noting that in some cases, closing a Timeloop will trigger a boss fight. If it does, and you defeat the boss, you'll be rewarded with some of the best Glyphs and Relics in the game, which can give you an edge in combat encounters as you progress through the story.
How to Get Amine Prisms in Hell Is Us
Amine Prism can be obtained by completing mysteries, main quests, and opening Lymbic Chests dotted throughout the world. You'll receive your first one from Gildas at the same time that he gives you the Guardian Detector. I also found three, one of each type of prism, as a yellow glint in one of the Senedra Forest's tower. You'll explore this location as you're trying to get the Keystone of Grief.
