In the early sections of Hell is Us, your main task will be centered around locating Remi's parents. One of the first major locations you'll visit on your journey is the home of Vitalis, Jova Village's local blacksmith. This location will not only serve an important narrative function, but also provides players with a great example of the types of puzzles they'll encounter throughout the game. The main puzzle in the house is located in Vitalis' Basement, which requires a Door Code to open. This guide will show you how to find the code, and reveal how to open Vitalis' Basement Door in Hell is Us.
How to Open All Senedra Forest Ruins Doors in Hell Is Us
The Ruins in Senedra Forest are the first dungeon you'll encounter in Hell Is Us, and have a few door puzzles you'll need to solve.
Where to Find Vitalis' Basement Door Code in Hell is Us
Cars and Numbers:
After you receive the key to Vitalis' home from Victor early in Hell is Us' first act, you'll have free access to Vitalis' home, which sits directly across from the Jova Village Forge. When you enter the home, there are three specific items you'll need to find before you head downstairs to enter the basement.
The first item you need is found in the child's room to the left after entering the front door. You'll see a yellow item orb near the top drawer of the dresser. Collect the item, which is a photo of a child in a green boxcar.
The second item you'll need to find is located in one of the back rooms, sitting on a small side table. Collect the yellow item orb, and you'll see that it is a photo of two young people and a red car.
To find the next item, you'll need to head downstairs towards the basement area. As you make your way down the stairs, pay close attention to the green boxcar you pass. You'll notice the number 13 on its side. Remember that number.
Before you reach the ladder that leads from the lower level to the basement, you'll see a locked chest to the right. Examine the chest, and you'll see that this is what your Heirloom Necklace was meant to interact with. Select it from the list of items, and the chest will open. Inside, you'll find a photo of a mother, her child, and a red toy car.
Basement Door Code Solution:
Once you have all three photos, you can head down the ladder into the basement. Make your way to the large room with a well-lit wall. You will clearly see the outline of missing frames that clearly go on the wall.
Interact with the space on the left, and you'll see the shape of each photo matches one of the spaces on the wall. You'll want to place them in the following order:
- Young Couple
- Mother & Son
- Boy in Green Car
If you look closely, you'll see that each photo has a number on the car except for the final image. This is why you needed to pay attention to the green boxcar as you came downstairs. The basement door code will be all three numbers lined up in the same order as the photos.
Vitalis' Basement Door Code is:
- 321713
Enter it into the keypad on the side of the door to solve the puzzle. Inside the room you'll find the following items:
- Vigil Note: A clue to finding Vitalis in Vyssa Hills
- Glyph - Perfect Guard (Neutral)
- Glyph - Lingering Pain (Grief)
- Glyph - Rage Spike (Rage)
- Glyph - Frightful Ambush (Terror)
- Glyph - Delirium (Ecstasy)
- Lymbic Greatsword
- Letter - Warning: General lore
- Note - Lymbic Locks: Explain the Lymbic Lock mechanism using Lymbic Rods.
- Lymbic Rod - Grief, W (Fits in the Lymbic Chest near the basement exit)
This is everything you'll find in the basement chamber, which will set you up for the next portion of your journey.
