Fans of zombie shooters have another game to look forward to, thanks to Infinity Ape Studios’ Hellbreach: Vegas, which officially launches on August 14. Remarkably, the first-person shooter is the work of a solo developer, who has chosen Steam as the platform to share their ambitious creation.
First announced in 2022, Hellbreach: Vegas launched into early access in March 2024 and, so far, has a “Mostly Positive” review rating on Steam. Players have understandably compared the game to the ever popular Call of Duty: Zombies and Killing Floor 2. During its time in early access, the developer has been rolling out monthly updates for Hellbreach: Vegas, as well as a roadmap to keep interested gamers informed about what to expect leading up to release.
Infinity Ape has also just revealed that Hellbreach: Vegas version 1.0 will be launching on Steam on August 14, though gamers who want to jump in now can of course already buy it in early access for $9.99. There is also a demo available for those who might like to try the game out for a bit before committing.
What Does Hellbreach: Vegas Have on Offer?
Hellbreach: Vegas is a wave-based first-person zombie shooter set in Las Vegas. Though the game supports up to four players in online co-op, it can also be experienced solo. Upon release, there will be eight maps available, including the recently released “Area 51” that takes players to an underground bunker and introduces a plasma gun, which means there will be more than 19 weapons to choose from when the game officially launches. The guns will be upgradable, and there will also be 11 perks to help players survive in a world overrun with zombies.
Fitting the Las Vegas setting, one unique mechanic in the game are the slot machines that let players try their luck at getting their hands on new weapons, power-ups, cosmetics, and other bonuses. Currently, there are four game modes to work way through in Hellbreach: Vegas, but Infinity Ape plans to implement a fifth mode for the title's full launch. There will also be new cosmetics for both characters and weapons.
Once they’re done with Hellbreach: Vegas, gamers who particularly enjoy slaying the undead have plenty of other zombie games to look forward to. After a few delays and hiccups, GSC Game World’s highly anticipated STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is finally slated to launch on September 5. Those looking to jump into an 80s horror flick should add John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando to their wishlist, and Killing Floor 3 and State of Decay 3 have also been announced to be in development.
