Arrowhead Studios CEO Shams Jorjani said a crossover between Helldivers 2 and Dead Space isn't impossible, saying he wants to "get in touch" with EA. This message was shared on the Helldivers 2 Discord after a user asked if the team at Arrowhead had considered collaborating with the Dead Space franchise. While the tone of each game is certainly different, both Dead Space and Helldivers take place in space and offer similar aesthetics, making this hypothetical crossover easy to see happening down the line.
Since its release, Helldivers 2 has seen numerous updates and upgrades, most of which have expanded the world of the game drastically. In 2025, players don't just have Terminids and Automatons to fight, they now also need to worry about The Illuminate. Thankfully, they have advanced weaponry and artillery, as well as other tools like vehicles to turn the tide of battle. However, crossovers are one area that remains relatively unexplored in Helldivers 2, something the game's CEO seems open to exploring further.
Helldivers 2 Makes Big Change to Tutorial
Arrowhead Game Studios changes the way players learn the basics of Helldivers 2 before getting deployed on alien planets to defend freedom.
Arrowhead's Shams Jorjani was asked if the team would consider a Dead Space collaboration for Helldivers 2 on the game's official Discord, to which the CEO responded that it's "not impossible." Jorjani cheekily also added that EA should "get in touch" if they were reading the message. While the two games are different in tone, with Dead Space offering a far more bleak and horror-flavored adventure, they and Helldivers 2 seem like games that could merge nicely. Fans have also been pushing for a Warhammer 40K collaboration recently, a fitting crossover considering the franchise's similarities with Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 CEO Teases Dead Space Crossover
So far, Helldivers 2 has only crossed over with Killzone, another Sony-published sci-fi shooter. This collaboration happened in December 2024, adding some new weapons and armor options to Helldivers 2's ever-expanding arsenal. Arrowhead is playing it cautiously when it comes to collaborations, revealing they have rejected ideas, such as a Star Wars-themed update, due to the IP not fitting with theirs. With Jorjani saying Dead Space isn't "impossible," he is clearly indicating he thinks the two games do fit together in some way.
Regardless of whether this crossover happens, players still have a lot to love about the base Helldivers 2 experience. While many things have changed since launch, namely the number of enemies and weapons, players seem to agree that Helldivers 2's core gameplay loop remains fun and satisfying, especially with friends. Helldivers 2 is a game intended to be played co-op, as players will have to work together to complete tasks and objectives. Another big part of the game is its story and humor, with recent Helldivers 2 updates adding to the satirical world Arrowhead has created.
