Arrowhead Game Studios reveals the next premium warbond for Helldivers 2 known as Freedom's Flame, a fire-centric content pack filled with weapons, cosmetics, and more. In comparison to the first few months of Helldivers 2, the summer has been relatively quiet as developer Arrowhead Game Studios chose to start slowing down on releases to focus more on quality and stability for the game's longterm health.
However, after a relative lull through June and the early part of July, Arrowhead revealed a massive new Helldivers 2 update called Escalation of Freedom, essentially serving as the result of months of community feedback. Arriving on August 6 for all players, Escalation of Freedom also comes packed with new content including a Combat Rating 10 option, new hybrid enemies like the Spore Charger, more environmental hazards and mission objectives, as well as tons of quality of life enhancements. While the announcement was met with tons of excitement from the community, it wasn't the only announcement Arrowhead was preparing, as a new Premium Warbond is also on the way.
A week after the Escalation of Freedom reveal, Arrowhead confirmed the arrival of Freedom's Flame, a new Helldivers 2 Premium Warbond joining the ranks of the previously released collection. The theme for this warbond is fire, and as expected, the premium content adds a variety of new toys to the sandbox including two primary weapons, like a pump action shotgun with incendiary phosphorus pellets and a lightweight flamethrower. Players can also equip the Crisper flamethrower handgun as a secondary weapon, as well as two sets of armor called the Heatseeker or Draconaught which come with a 75% resistance to fire damage as well.

However, weapons and armor are not the only additions in this previously leaked Helldivers 2 warbond, as players will also gain access to some gameplay modifiers, like the Fiery Drop booster, which ignites the Hellpod dropsite as it lands, burning anything standing in the way. Players can also repaint their Shuttle, Hellpod, and Exosuit with a Safety Orange color, equip the Fire Safety Officer title, "The Breach" card, or the Purifying Eclipse cape. Finally, Freedom's Flame features three emotes as well, including Big Stretch, Deep Reflection, and the dual co-emote known as Thoracic Collision Exultation Manoeuvre.
The addition of new content should reinvigorate the community, which has seemingly been leaving the game as Helldivers 2 player numbers have continued to tumble after a wildly successful launch period earlier in the year. Specifically, PC player count numbers hit an all-time low in July, dropping below 13,000 concurrent players, which is still a solid number, all things considered. However, the drop could be linked to a lack of new content over this time period, so the announcement of both the massive new free update as well as the premium warbond could see those player numbers rise once more.
