- Demand for a minigun in Helldivers 2 gameplay surfaced, and the CEO hinted at potential addition.
Helldivers 2 fans noticed an unexpected bug affecting the grenade launcher’s range in the shooter, and Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani fired up Discord to address the upset. Helldivers 2 deployed update 01.002.200 recently, which added several buffs and nerfs to specific weapons. However, despite there being no specific mention in the patch notes of the grenade launcher, fans began assuming the nerf was a bug.
The co-op third-person shooter was first released in 2024 and found immediate success for being a parody on patriotism. Alongside the shooter’s new update, players have also been busy donning their detective hats after the Helldivers 2 developer shared a cryptic video with the fandom. Morse code was offered up to be deciphered, and some players believed the video was sending a message from the Illuminate faction.
Helldivers 2 Leak Teases Flamethrowing Enemy Sub-Faction
An exciting new Helldivers 2 leak reveals a flamethrower-wielding sub-faction poised to cause players some trouble on future missions.
Posted on Reddit by Valencewolf, one instance of fans’ grenade launcher gripe was shared in the Helldivers subreddit, noting the weapon’s range had been cut to the distance of the Ultimatum. The fan went on to explain the launcher now had the range of throwing a grenade and confirmed its time as a bug nest destroyer had come to an end. Helldivers 2 welcomed the Borderline Justice warbond recently, bringing a Wild West theme to gameplay, and the DLC also offered two new weapons, a hover pack stratagem, armor sets, emotes, and much more, but none was enough to distract from the launcher’s crippling bug.
Helldivers 2 Players Complain About Nerfed Grenade Launcher and Arrowhead CEO Confirms It's a Bug
Helldivers 2 is in no short supply of grenades, and they are an integral part of combat, but some players are understandably annoyed that the grenade launcher’s range now shares the bombs’ distance. Luckily, Jorjani quickly confirmed the nerf was a bug and to enjoy the faux pas while it lasted, suggesting a fix was imminent. The CEO also acknowledged players’ call to nerf the bots, as many were complaining about the difficulty, and Jorjani simply suggested that those finding the fight too hard should lower the difficulty.
While the game’s fandom quarrels over leaving the grenade launcher nerfed or not, other Helldivers 2 players have been asking for a different weapon to be included in gameplay. An increased demand for a minigun to be added to the arsenal surfaced recently, and Jorjani took to Discord, once again, to address it. The CEO mentioned he sat next to the “weapons guy” in Arrowhead headquarters and stated he would ask when a minigun is expected to make its way into the game.
