Helldivers 2 is finally coming to Xbox, so fans have begun to imagine what a Halo crossover could look like. Xbox has brought several of its once-exclusive series to PlayStation over the past year, and now Sony is returning the favor with its smash-hit co-op shooter. The news has made the comparisons between Helldivers 2 and Halo harder than ever to ignore, so gamers have naturally started dreaming about crossover content.
Hopes for a collaboration between the two franchises predate the Xbox announcement by a long shot. Not long after its release, Helldivers 2 fans highlighted how Halo would be the perfect crossover, even if it seemed unlikely at the time that such a collab would ever happen. Now, that possibility seems far more likely, so the creative juices have started flowing for some fans of the sci-fi shooters.
Some PlayStation Fans Are Not Happy About Helldivers 2 Coming to Xbox
Across polls, social media, and online forums, many PlayStation fans are voicing dissatisfaction with Sony's decision to launch Helldivers 2 on Xbox.
Almost immediately after Arrowhead confirmed that Helldivers 2 was coming to Xbox, fans like lyndonguitar and Muaxh03 started to share Halo crossover concepts on Reddit. Understandably, a lot of the fan art centers around ODST armor. While Master Chief may be a more iconic Halo character, ODSTs bear more resemblance to the titular helldivers, both in appearance and in their in-universe function. With both franchises featuring soldiers launching to a planet's surface in drop pods, the crossover potential seems too rich to ignore. Other ideas include bringing a covenant plasma grenade or bubble shield as throwables into the game alongside Halo guns like the M7 SMG, energy sword, or M6G Magnum.

Whether a Halo crossover will even happen is still uncertain. Bringing Helldivers 2 to Xbox is a potentially promising sign, as it signifies an openness to some level of collaboration between Sony and Xbox. A recent leak also suggests that a new Halo game could be coming to PlayStation before long, and if that's true, ODST skins and weapons in Helldivers 2 would make even more sense. With nothing confirmed yet, though, fans will have to wait and see what happens.
If an official Helldivers and Halo collab never happens, gamers can still enjoy some fan-made crossovers. Forge users have created a Helldivers 2-inspired Halo Infinite mode, which may not be an actual collaboration but does combine the PlayStation franchise's gameplay with the Xbox shooter's aesthetic. Both companies seem to be slowly moving away from exclusivity, though, so an official event or DLC is not out of the question, especially if other rumors about Halo jumping consoles are true.
