The Democratic Detonation Warbond in Helldivers 2 delivered a couple of explosive primary weapons to the game. One of which is the R-36 Eruptor, a bolt-action sniper rifle that fires jet-propelled exploding munitions. While the gun may be cumbersome, it is surprisingly effective in many scenarios.

Helldivers 2 CEO Says No to Adding Popular Customization Mechanic

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO, Johan Pilestedt, confirms that one much-requested customization feature won't be coming to Helldivers 2.

The Eruptor quickly became a fan-favorite when it was released, overtaking Helldivers 2's CB-9 Exploding Crossbow in terms of hype and practical use. If you're wondering what all the buz is about, here's an overview of this sniper rifle to help you decide if it's something you'll enjoy using.

Helldivers 2: Eruptor Stats

  • Damage: 380
  • Fire Rate: 25
  • Capacity: 5
  • Recoil: 75

The Eruptor is somewhat similar to the JAR-5 Dominator in Helldivers 2 when it comes to handling. It's sluggish, but every shot from this weapon is guaranteed to ruin the day of anything that isn't covered in heavy armor.

This gun performs exactly how you'd expect a sniper rifle would. The rate of fire is slow, and the magazine capacity is limited, but every hit from the Eruptor will take down most targets with relative ease. Its projectiles have a blast radius of approximately 8 meters, and they will automatically detonate after traveling approximately 150 meters without hitting a target.

How Good Is The Eruptor?

The Eruptor is well worth its weight in Medals and Super Credits. Its explosive projectiles can easily take out a small group of weak enemies like Raiders and Scavengers that are tightly grouped together. The gun is also very good at killing heavier targets like Devastators, Spewers, and it's one of the best weapons to use against Automaton Scout Striders in Helldivers 2. It can't punch through heavy armor, but it can destroy objectives like bot fabricators, bug holes, and illegal broadcast towers.

Considering the rifle's low ammo capacity, cumbersome handling, and low rate of fire, you'll want to bring a Stalwart or an Arc Thrower as your support weapon. The Eruptor will be somewhat decent on its own, but don't expect any sort of efficiency when you're using this weapon to deal with large groups.

This weapon isn't exactly a must-have, though fans of mid-long-range playstyles can expect to have a lot of fun with this weapon. It won't be as good as the Anti-Materiel Rifle when it comes to DPS or range, but it definitely has the spot in the loadout of a player who wants to provide covering fire and demolitions expertise for their team.
