Helldivers 2 players expect a possible return to the notorious Malevelon Creek on the horizon, thanks to Arrowhead Game Studios’ "Major Order" that outlined the Automatons' uprising. Helldivers 2 first launched in February 2024 to immediate critical acclaim and the story follows the titular soldiers tasked with combating threats to humanity during the 22nd century. The live-service shooter continues to be a pioneering title in its genre one year later, by striking fear into the hearts of democracy-driven players.
Malevelon Creek is one of five planets dotted within the Severin Sector, boasting atmospheric, twilight jungles and vast ponds to navigate. The location became greatly significant during the Automaton Expedition, and sadly, was the final resting place for many Helldivers. In the Summer of 2024, Helldivers 2 players thought the Meridia mission was becoming the new Malevelon Creek, thanks to its chaotic and punishing nature that required strength in numbers to overcome. However, the creek has had a lasting effect on soldiers’ memories.

Posted on Helldivers 2’s Twitter account, Arrowhead shared a Major Order with soldiers, noting that the Helldivers were unable to neutralize the Automaton front. This resulted in the bots heading to the Severin Sector to “seize old industrial assets,” and as players know, this is also where Malevelon Creek lies. After winning the last mission on the creek, Helldivers 2 players could bag a free Malevelon Creek cape as a reward for conquering the task, but the player base has mixed emotions about returning to the harrowing scene if this clue from the devs is indeed teasing another round.
Helldivers 2 Players Are Preparing for a Return to Malevelon Creek
Helldivers 2’s Automatons need a difficulty tier list to aid players in annihilating the hordes, but the thought of Helldivers uniting once again against the bots at Malevelon Creek left some players giddy. One Redditor stated a return to the creek “both scares me and excites me,” and another noted, “Some part of me was left in the creek, and I took some part of them with me.” More Helldivers thought it would be a requirement to wear the free Malevelon Creek cape throughout the mission if Arrowhead does return players to the planet, but a separate fan revealed they had never taken the cosmetic off.
Arrowhead Game Studios' CEO Shams Jorjani recently revealed why Helldivers 2 doesn't have a content roadmap, teasing that the studio likes to be in the dark about what’s coming next. The boss explained that players shouldn’t expect to see a roadmap appear shortly, but Arrowhead’s stellar communication and transparency with the community make up for the game’s hidden direction.
