Summary
- Mechs in Helldivers 2 offer intense combat, but adding melee weapons to them could take the action to the next level.
- As threats loom on the horizon, Super Earth must evolve its fighting tactics to defend against new enemies in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 does not skimp on the action, as the game has quickly become known for its intense, but incredibly fun, combat. Blasting through Terminids and Automatons in Helldivers 2 in order to protect one's way of life on Super Earth makes for some thrilling missions. Since its launch back in February, Helldivers 2 has featured a series of fun updates to the gameplay, and one of the best so far has been the addition of giant mechs.
The introduction of mechs to Helldivers 2 has seriously upped the ante when it comes to venturing out onto the battlefield, but these mech suits can be taken even further. Helldivers 2 features a diverse array of awesome weapons. From the Breaker to the Grenade Pistol, the game boasts an exciting variety of guns to choose from, but there is one weapon type missing from Helldivers 2: melee weapons.
Helldivers 2 Major Order Failed
Players confirm they failed Arrowhead's latest challenge within Helldivers 2, missing out on unlocking an exciting new weapon.
Mechs Hold the Key to Introducing Melee Weapons in Helldivers 2
Since launch, melee weapons have been missing from Helldivers 2, and there is a very good reason for that. Swinging a blade or mace at a swarm of Helldivers 2's Terminids that are closing in on a player just isn't an efficient way to fight such intense onslaughts of enemies. However, putting a melee weapon in the hands of a mech could really turn up the dial on fighting with these Stratagems.
Putting Melee Weapons in the Hands of Mechs
Not only do mechs present the chance for melee weapons to finally make their way into the game, but they would just be incredibly cool. Hacking and slashing through Terminids and Automatons with a giant Super Earth-approved sword seems like a perfect progression for the mech suits. With recent rumors that Warlords are about to be reprised for Helldivers 2, the mechs need to be taken up a notch.
Warlords are massive mech enemies that were featured in the first Helldivers game, and if they actually return as rumors suggest, then there is a new terrifying threat on the horizon. These Warlords are at the top of Cyborg society, and they are a force to be reckoned with. In addition to the impending Warlords, there have been several rumors about what faction will come to Helldivers 2 next, and any new enemy that makes its way into the game needs to be met with bigger and better fighting mechanics.
Mechs were officially added to Helldivers 2 a month after the game's initial launch.
A Melee Mech Would Be More Balanced
Fighting with a melee weapon as a lone Helldiver on the battlefield is hard to justify. But putting melee weapons in the hands of mech suits would offer a more balanced method to utilize the weapon type in a way that actually makes sense. Also, Helldivers 2 players are limited by the mech suit's health. This would force players to really strategize with a melee mech instead of just hacking and slashing as one wishes. There would still need to be careful thought put into each attack.
As the fight for managed democracy continues throughout the galaxy, Super Earth will need to do everything in its power to fight off the treacherous threats that continue to endanger the planet's way of life. Mechs have been incredibly valuable on the battlefield, so it's time to bring the fight up close and personal to Terminids, Automatons, and whoever or whatever comes next.
