Helldivers 2 players on PC have long taken issue with the game's increasing file size, with players accusing developer Arrowhead Game Studios of not doing enough to fix the problem. Recently, these complaints from Helldivers 2 players have intensified, with the file size combined with worsening performance proving to be too much for some. Now, the developer's CEO, Shams Jorjani, has weighed in on the issue.

Over on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, Jorjani responded to a question about potentially decreasing the game's 140 GB file size on PC. He claims that Arrowhead Game Studios has "escalated the priority of this. But I can't tell you when it will be addressed." It's good news and bad news, really. Yes, the developer is aware of it, and it will be sorted out in a future Helldivers 2 update. However, it's undoubtedly disappointing that there's no timescale for such a frustrating issue. For context, Helldivers 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S comes in at just over 35 GB, so it's a gigantic difference between the platforms.
Although Jorjani may not always have the answers players want to hear, it's respectable that he frequently spends time answering Helldivers 2 questions over on Discord. Fans are understandably passionate about the game they love, so to offer such a direct line to the CEO is a great way for players to feel as though their voices are being heard by the developer. The particular issue of PC file size bloat is a tough one to tackle, so it's still good to get an update one way or the other.
Despite the absurd file size on PC at the moment, the Helldivers 2 success train just keeps on rolling. Following its launch on Xbox Series X/S, Helldivers 2 became the top paid game on the platform, hitting almost one million sales in the process. There are undoubtedly some frustrating issues for players to voice their frustrations at with the game, but there are equally many reasons why Helldivers 2 is one of the few live service title to have really stuck around following its debut early last year.
