Helldivers 2 players are a bit frustrated over a lack of transparency after a recent update featured undocumented buffs to enemies. The past couple of months have been challenging for players as well as Arrowhead Game Studios, the latter of which continues to navigate pleasing fans while fixing core Helldivers 2 issues.
After a period of positivity following the launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X, things have seemingly turned a bit sour. Between the bugs and technical issues impacting the game, fans have become frustrated by rising performance problems stemming from Helldivers 2's Into the Unjust update. Unfortunately, Arrowhead confirmed that these issues will require more time to properly adjust and while the studio continues to release updates to address other issues, they may have unintentionally caused another one.
Helldivers 2 CEO Says Performance Will Take 'Many More Months' To Solve
Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani says Helldivers 2's performance issues could take 'many more months' to solve.
Helldivers 2 Accused of Making "Undocumented" Buffs to Enemies
Following the recent Update 4.1.0 for Helldivers 2, players have seemingly discovered that not every update was seemingly included within the patch notes. In a detailed thread by perakisg, new graphics for the Berserker and Hive Guard were posted, highlighting the change history for both creatures. The Berserker's large body parts are now more resistant to damage, while the Hive Guard is not only more durable, it's less vulnerable to fire damage. While some praised other positive undocumented changes, most criticized the lack of transparency and warning about going down such a slippery slope.
Additionally, as highlighted by Glitch Unlimited during the Helldivers 2 Liberty Day event, it wasn't just enemies that received some undocumented changes. The P-4 Senator pistol and StA-52 assault rifle both received damage boosts. However, the community has pushed back a little on the P-4 Senator buff due to the increased drag. As players have noted, the added drag makes it more unreliable to hit things at mid to long range, meaning it should only be used at close range.
For now, though, Arrowhead is trying to follow suit on a big community request by removing GameGuard anti-cheat from Helldivers 2. The system has been accused by players of causing performance and technical issues in the game, including previously blocking some accessibility features. While Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani warned that it wouldn't be a simple fix, the news has no doubt pleased fans regardless.
