Since its launch, Helldivers 2 has continued to exceed expectations, and that was done once again with the recent Heart of Democracy update. Although there were clues leading up to the event, Helldivers 2 still managed to surprise a lot of players when the fight for democracy was brought to Super Earth itself.
The fight for Super Earth against the forces of the Illuminate was definitely not easy. Once the dust cleared, Prosperity City and Equality-on-Sea were the only Mega Cities remaining. Word from the Federation claims the death of the President of Super Earth, while there are also reports of the Illuminate fleeing the home of Managed Democracy's orbit. Of course, when it comes to Helldivers 2, nothing is quite what it seems, and there are bound to be more surprises on the way. No matter what lies ahead, though, there is one thing that remains clear. Topping the battle for Super Earth is going to be hard.

Where Will the Illuminate Strike Next?
This is the big question. After the Illuminate fled the battlefield, the expected route would be to chase them down, but so far, Major Orders have yet to give Helldivers this directive. It's unlikely that the battle for Super Earth is over, but how developer Arrowhead Game Studios plans on one-upping itself is the biggest mystery of all. There's even the chance that the Illuminate could return with a brand-new fleet and completely wipe out the rest of Super Earth. If that's the case, then there are even more questions about where Helldivers 2 will go from here.
Helldivers 2 could potentially be on the brink of ultimate chaos, if Arrowhead Game Studios plays its cards correctly. With the developer being a Swedish company, the studio may be gearing up for downtime as summer vacation gets underway, but that lull in content could prove to be incredibly beneficial in the long term.

Helldivers 2 Could Be Preparing for an Even Bigger Bang
There's no way to know for sure, but as the summer gets started, more insight into the Illuminate may be on the way. Players on Reddit have already been busy theorizing about what's next, with some even claiming the Illuminate has installed a puppet leader after the President's death. Reddit users like Far-Wafer-1233 have even gone so far as to call the President's death an "inside job." This is purely speculation, but such a twist would definitely be something that Arrowhead Game Studios is capable of pulling off.
Only Time Will Tell What New Horrors Await the Helldivers and Super Earth
Heart of Democrat quickly proved to be a success. With each update, Helldivers 2 continues to reach exciting milestones, and Heart of Democracy further demonstrates how no part of the galaxy is safe. Between the growing strength of the Illuminate and the rumors that rebel traitors of the Federation could arrive down the road, the future prosperity of Super Earth is not guaranteed.
If a fourth faction were to arrive, there's also the possibility that a yet-to-be-revealed race that is even more powerful than the Illuminate could be lying dormant in the galaxy.
Of course, after a faction as powerful as the Illuminate, a hypothetical rebel faction in Helldivers 2 could struggle to meet the continuously rising expectations, but Arrowhead Game Studios has proven that the studio has what it takes to bring exciting twists to its world. Super Earth may seem safe for now, but Helldivers 2 has given plenty of examples as to why Helldivers should never get too comfortable.
