Helldivers 2, a massively successful cooperative third-person shooter from Arrowhead Games Studios, is now officially coming to Xbox Series X|S next month. With the IP being owned by SIE, the console version of the game was released exclusively on the PlayStation 5 in February 2024. In what could be a seismic shift for the industry, that exclusivity is no more. Helldivers 2 lands for Xbox owners on August 26th.
PlayStation Game Helldivers 2 is Finally Coming to Xbox
Much to everyone's surprise, Sony announces that its highly popular co-op shooter Helldivers 2 will launch on Xbox Series X/S this year.
Helldivers 2 Will Not Be on Xbox Game Pass
Helldivers 2 won't be released as part of Xbox Game Pass at launch (and as a Sony title, probably not ever). If Series X|S owners plan to help fight the good fight in this amazing title, they'll have to open up their wallets. Microsoft has confirmed that the base game will launch in late August for $40.
Xbox players have been clamoring to get Helldivers 2 onto their consoles since it exclusively debuted on the PlayStation 5. There was even a petition on Change.org that had reached over 133,000 digital signatures as of March 2025. The Xbox fanbase is serious about jumping in. So it's likely that they'll want to spend a few more bucks to upgrade to the Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition. Here is Arrowhead Games Studios' announcement about bringing the game to Xbox players:
