Hideo Kojima, who directed the video games Metal Gear and Death Stranding, has revealed what Netflix TV show he has been watching recently and has nothing but high praise for its "brilliantly portrayed" storyline. Over the years, Kojima has revealed mini-reviews of the movies and shows that have kept him glued to his seat. Last year, the game designer revealed that he had been very busy watching Past Lives, The Teachers' Lounge, Dune: Part Two, All of Us Strangers, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, La Chimera, Hit Man, Gondola, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, The Substance, The Holdovers, and Juror #2, which had all made its way into his favorite movie list of 2024.

Besides sitting down to watch some of his favorite movies, Kojima has been busy with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, where he recently revealed a short, 20-second clip of what fans can expect when the game is released and to also drum up some hype for its return. With games like Death Stranding and Snatcher under his belt, Kojima has risen to amazing heights where he's become not only a game designer but also a producer, director, and writer all within his 36-year career. Now, the 61-year-old enjoys nothing more than allowing his fans into his world a little more by giving them a taste of what he watches when he's not creating some of the best games in the industry.

Hideo Kojima Shares His Review on New Netflix Show Adolescence

In a post on X/Twitter, Hideo Kojima revealed that Netflix's Adolescence, which revolves around the captivating yet horrific story of 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), who is arrested by the police after the brutal murder of another student called Katie Leonard, has held his attention and praised the show's "brilliantly portrayed" arc which was inspired by a real-life crime. Kojima also shared elements of the show that impressed him the most, especially its "continuous shot from start to finish" and how it managed to "weave through different characters" while the details of the case slowly came to light.

Going by Kojima's mini-review of the series, he still had yet to finish all of its four episodes but stated that he needed to "keep watching this" to find out how it ended. Kojima isn't the only one who is currently in love with Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham's hard-hitting drama, which turns any parent's worst nightmare into a reality, as over on Rotten Tomatoes, Adolescence is currently sitting at 99% Tomatometer score, which means that the game designer is in a long line of other viewers who have also been gripped by the limited show's impact and sobering message.

Even though many fans of Stephen Graham have already seen Adolescence, Kojima's review of the show certainly draws in even more of an audience for those who might not have been interested in the series before his review, which can only be seen as a positive thing given its subject matter. It also goes to show that, yet again, Kojima not only has the best taste when it comes to video games but also TV shows too.

Adolescence is available to stream right now on Netflix.
