High on Knife is the first DLC from the studio Squanch Games as a follow-up to its comedic sci-fi shooter High on Life. The High on Knife DLC takes place two years after the events in High on Life, which saw players take on the role of a human-turned-Bounty Hunter in taking down the evil G6 cartel, equipped with an arsenal of hilarious talking guns.

Players considering whether to play this addition to High on Life's story may be keen to know how long it takes to beat the horror-themed DLC, what there is to do compared to the base game, and whether it's worth the time and cost.

How Long Is High On Knife DLC And What To Expect?

High on Knife begins talking to Gene at the protagonist bounty hunter's house before jetting off to the slug-populated Salt Lick City on the planet Peroxis. Following High on Life's Bounty 3000-launched bounty-hunting structure, players must search for Knifey's missing mail package. Overall, it takes approximately three to four hours to beat the High on Knife DLC, including minimal searching for collectibles, making further use of High on Life's gun abilities, and some new additions. While not necessarily the longest DLC, it still feels like a pretty long Bounty chapter, especially considering post-story collectibles.

Most of High on Life's talking guns return except for Kenny, making room for two new guns in the shape of Harper and B.A.L.L. High on Knife also brings in some spectacular changes to Knifey, who in many ways steals the show with additional new abilities and story focus, with the DLC also providing a story-related reason for why Kenny doesn't make an appearance. Fans can also expect to use various Bounty Hunter abilities learned during the base game to navigate the sizable landscape as they explore Peroxis, such as the power slide and jetpack boost, building up to a boss fight at the end, followed by some hilarious story progression and credits.

What To Do After Beating The Main Story In High On Knife?

After beating the High on Knife DLC main story, there are several things left to do, as players can return to Peroxis to search for all collectibles using Knifey's new chainsaw attachment. Some early collectibles aren't possible to reach until players get this ability later in the game, adding more replayability to the DLC and giving players more reason to return.

Although opening Luglox chests in High on Life provided the core type of collectibles alongside cards and saving humans, players can find the following number of collectible-related activities in the High on Knife DLC organized by region on Peroxis. Breakable boxes contain collectible cards or trapped humans, adding more play time to the update in addition to quirky activities like salt racing and learning to play cards:

  • 18 boxes in the Outskirts.
  • 21 boxes in the Duffalo Ranch
  • 19 boxes in Muxxalon HQ

The High on Life: High on Knife DLC is available now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
