Hogwarts Legacy: Best Brooms

Broom flight is one of the best things about the Harry Potter universe, and it gets no better than in Hogwarts Legacy, where players can traverse the entire map on their trusty old brooms. While all the brooms in Hogwarts Legacy have the same stats, they will all benefit from Albie Weekes' innovative upgrades. Mr. Weekes can be found in Hogsmeade at his shop, Spintwitches Sporting Needs, and players can take part in broom time trials to unlock these upgrades.

At Spintwitches, players will also have a choice of five different brooms, all for 600 galleons each, but these are fairly basic and far from the best models. To get their hands on the best-looking brooms in the game and fly around the Scottish Highlands in style, players can complete the Pop Balloons challenges or find Wandering Merchants and spend their hard-earned galleons.

Updated on December 18th, 2025, by Joe Grantham:​ The brooms in Hogwarts Legacy are naturally some of the most sought-after items in the game, with fans eager to get their hands on the best and fastest. Furthermore, as exciting as other mounts like Hippogriffs and Thestrals are, the flexibility of the broom makes it easily the best mount in Hogwarts Legacy, especially when fully upgraded by Albie Weekes. With the release of the Summer Update, players now have access to two new brooms in Hogwarts Legacy: the Lavender Borealis Broom and the Dark Lightning Broom. This is the first time new brooms have been added to the game, taking the total to 15 now, and with that, those two new brooms have been added to this list. Sections have also been added, detailing how to get a broom in Hogwarts Legacy and how to upgrade brooms​​​​.

How To Get A Broom In Hogwarts Legacy

At the start of the game, players won't have a broom. After completing the main quest known as Jackdaw's Rest, players will be notified that they can attend their first Flying Class with Madam Kogawa. This mission serves as a tutorial on how to equip and fly a broom in Hogwarts Legacy​​​​​.

While players won't get to keep the broom they use in class, completing this quest finally unlocks the ability to purchase a broom. To do so, head down to Spintwitches Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade and talk to the owner, Albie Weeks, to purchase one of the five starter brooms for 600 Galleons.

How To Upgrade Your Broom In Hogwarts Legacy

After purchasing your first broom from Albie Weeks, he will mention that he's working on some broom upgrades, prompting the Flight Test quest to trigger. Players can then meet Iselda Reyes at the Quidditch Pitch and try to beat her time trial record by flying through the rings and popping bubbles to replenish the boost meter.

If successful, players can return to Spintwitches to complete the quest. A short while later, the main character will receive an owl informing them to head down to the shop and purchase the upgrade for 1000 Galleons.

By speaking to Albie Weeks again at later points in the game after passing certain points in the story, players will be able to repeat this pattern twice more for further broom upgrades, resulting in three upgrades overall. The subsequent races against Imelda Reyes will naturally be harder.

15 Moon Trimmer Broom

Safe Family Traveling Broomstick

The Moon Trimmer Broom is one of the five basic brooms available from Albie Weekes for a cheap price, but it is arguably the worst-looking broomstick in the game. With a fairly rudimentary lantern hanging from the handle and nondescript saddlebags on either side of the seat, this broom is built for purpose, not style.

The broom also appears to be second-hand, with its previous owner not taking great care of it, and even for 600 Galleons, players can pick up better options.

14 Yew Weaver Broom

Family Traveling ​​​Broomstick

While the performance of each broomstick in Hogwarts Legacy is no different from any other, players certainly won't feel all that speedy on the chunky Yew Weaver Broom. The broom's tail is rather large and while this might offer stability and power, it's hard to imagine it helping with aerodynamics.

However, if players feel this is the broom for them, then thankfully, it can be picked up fairly early on in the game in Hogsmeade at Spintwitches Sporting Needs, along with four other options.

13 Lickety Swift Broom

Fancy Traveling Broomstick

With its padded leather seat and charming basket, the Lickety Swift Broom is certainly built for comfort and would be ideal for an aged witch living in a rural village. While this might not be the aesthetic that most adventure seekers are looking for, it might just very well fill a niche for certain roleplayers in Hogwarts Legacy.

The Lickety Swift Broom appears to be in pretty good condition and can be picked up for free by merely completing the second tier of the Pop Balloons challenge.

12 Hogwarts House Broom

Quidditch Broomstick

The Hogwarts House Broom is the only broom in the game that changes its appearance based on which House the player is in. This means that on second, third, or even fourth playthroughs, players will see different versions of the broom. Outside of this feature, it is far from the best-looking broom, but nonetheless, a solid first option that lets players show off their House pride. Players can also show off their Hogwarts House pride with their Room of Requirement design.

11 Ember Dash Broom

Despite being one of the starter brooms, purchasable from Spintwitches Sporting Needs for just 600 galleons, the Ember Dash Broom has a surprisingly interesting design. Naturally, the main point of focus is the tail which is on fire and actually has some great effects mid-flight. There is also a slight heat haze seen around it.

When compared with the other broom that has a fiery tail, the Wild Fire Broom, players will notice that the Ember Dash is much sleeker with a smooth, aerodynamic handle that looks ideal for racing.

10 Aeromancer Broom

Outside the context of the Harry Potter universe, when the image of a witch is conjured, it usually includes an old broomstick and a bubbling cauldron full of potions. Thankfully, for those wishing to recreate this iconic aesthetic within Hogwarts Legacy, the Aeromancer Broom exists.

This wizened old broom with a small cauldron hooked to the handle can be purchased for 3000 galleons from the Wandering Merchant Rohan Prakash. Mr. Prakash can be found near the Marunweem Bridge as well as in Cragcroftshire.

9 Wild Fire Broom

As the in-game description puts it, the Wild Fire Broom captures an untamed nature. This is easy to understand when looking at the gnarled and knotted handle, which is only outshone by the fiery and ember-filled tail. This tail comes with its own effects, which are similar but slightly better than those of the Ember Dash Broom.

To get hold of the Wild Fire Broom, players will have to complete Tier III of the Pop Balloons challenge, which means they will need to pop a further ten sets of balloons after already popping seven sets as part of the previous tiers.

8 Wind Wisp Broom

Safe Traveling Broomstick

Out of the five brooms that can be bought for 600 galleons from Spintwitches Sporting Needs, the Wind Wisp Broom is perhaps the most simple, but also the most stylish and unique. As the smallest broom in the game, it is perfect for maintaining a low profile.

It is also a highly practical broom due to the small lantern hanging from the front, making nighttime flights a tad safer. While this broom might look out of place on Imelda Reyes' racecourses, it is a great first broom, especially for the price.

7 Bright Spark Broom

Nighttime Traveler's Broomstick

The Bright Spark Broom is arguably the hardest broom to acquire, as players will need to pop every single balloon set in the game. However, if they manage to find them all, it won't cost them a single galleon. The first thing players will notice about this broom is the two stars dangling from the handle, a feature that may put some off this otherwise stylish broom.

The unique angled shape of the tail also catches the eye and fits in perfectly with the metal-adorned seat and handle. One of the best things about the Bright Spark Broom and one of the many small details that make Hogwarts Legacy so beautiful is that a trail of small stars can be seen flowing out the back of the broom in flight. This is particularly visible at night.

With a wild tail of untended twigs and a handle that appears to have been snapped off a tree, the Family Antique Broom might not be for everyone, but for those looking to complete their rustic 19th-century aesthetic, it is beyond perfect.

Its natural design, or in fact lack of design, might not fit in on the Quidditch pitch, but it looks great when roaming the rugged countryside. This treasured family heirloom can be bought for 2500 galleons from the Wandering Merchant, Priya Treadwell, south of Hogwarts, who players might recall as the wife of historian Nora Treadwell.
