Summary
- Fans of Hogwarts Legacy want more save slots due to the addition of official PC mods.
- Some PC players can access additional save slots through a mod, but console players are limited to four.
- While unlikely, additional save slots may be added in the future.
Some fans of Hogwarts Legacy are hoping that developer Avalanche Software will one day expand the number of save slots available in the game. Currently, Hogwarts Legacy offers four slots, just enough to allow players to play as each of the four Hogwarts houses without having to erase their save data.
Hogwarts Legacy became the best-selling game of 2023, the first non-Call of Duty title to do so since Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. The RPG puts players in the shoes of a student at the world-famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 1800s. Players choose from Hogwarts' four houses in Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin, and get to explore the entire castle, as well as some of the famous areas surrounding the school, like Hogsmeade Village, the Forbidden Forest, and a number of small explorable hamlets.
Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are What Each of Their Franchises Needed
In a time of dire straits for both franchises, Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi have forged fruitful paths forward that can't be taken for granted.
There's a lot to do in the open world of Hogwarts Legacy, especially with the freshly implemented official PC mod support. As such, some players don't have enough open save slots for the amount of mods they wish to try out. Reddit user Pegasis69 expressed their desire for Avalanche Software to add more save slots to the game, sharing a photo of his main menu with all four available slots filled up, each with one of the four different Hogwarts houses. Judging by the levels of each character, it appears that Pegasis69 has completed a full playthrough as a Gryffindor, is playing their second run as a Slytherin, and wanted to try out the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff houses, leaving no more space for the myriad of different official mods that have just become available.
Hogwarts Legacy Fan Wants More Save Slots
While many fans are content with one save slot per Hogwarts house, it's understandable why some would want more. One commenter under Pegasis69's Reddit post mentions that there's a PC mod for Hogwarts Legacy that adds four more save slots in the mod menu, bringing the total up to eight. While fans on PC who want more Hogwarts Legacy save slots can take advantage of this mod, gamers on PlayStation and Xbox will be stuck with four save slots for the foreseeable future, unless Avalanche Software adds more at some point down the road.
Now that it's been over two years since the game's release, it doesn't seem likely that Avalanche would add more save slots to Hogwarts Legacy at this point. With that said, rumors of a Hogwarts Legacy definitive edition have been floating around in recent months. If more save slots were to be added, it would make sense for them to come as part of this potential definitive edition re-release. It's important to keep in mind that Hogwarts Legacy's definitive edition has yet to be concretely confirmed by WB or Avalanche, so fans will just need to keep an eye out for any news.
