The PlayStation 5 Pro arrives in less than two months, and Hogwarts Legacy is just one of more than a dozen games that Sony has been using to promote its upcoming launch.

The action RPG set roughly 100 years before the events of the Harry Potter books and movies has been around since early 2023. Despite controversy surrounding franchise creator J.K. Rowling, the game performed well on the market, selling more than 22 million copies in its launch year, and fans have been particularly smitten with the beautiful visuals of Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy is one of 13 games getting PS5 Pro upgrades at the console's launch, alongside other 2023 classics like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2. While reports indicate that 40 to 50 other titles will be receiving major graphical upgrades, fans around the internet have already been piecing together PS5 Pro-captured images released through Digital Foundry and comparing them to game stills captured on PlayStation 5, showing off some stunning differences. In Hogwarts Legacy, this includes images of the Great Hall where students dine, with the PS5 Pro vibrantly enhancing the details of the flames on the floating candles, their reflection in the floor's polish, and the intricacies of the stained-glass windows representing the school's four houses. Images have also been released of the world outside the castle, revealing trees that burst into life with color and more realistic reflections in the castle's lake.

Hogwarts Legacy isn't the only game that's been receiving attention for its early PS5 Pro visuals. Fellow RPG Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is getting a massive boost on PS5 Pro too, showing similar improvements in reflective surfaces like water and crisper imagery for skin and fur textures.

While the graphical upgrades show a marked improvement over the PlayStation 5, the massive price tag for the PS5 Pro has many in the gaming community shaking their heads in frustration. Set for release on November 7 for $699.99 in the U.S. Market, and even more expensive in regions like Japan and the United Kingdom, the price point has earned Sony the mockery of a large, vocal portion of the gaming community online. That said, it's less expensive than both models of the PlayStation 3 were at launch, when adjusting for inflation, and about $450 cheaper than the Skytech Azure 2 gaming PC, which has roughly the same specs.
