A Hogwarts Legacy player didn't realize they had to manually claim their rewards in the game until after they had already completed all the quests. Hogwarts Legacy is a massive game with a healthy number of main quests and side quests for witches and wizards to complete, and the rewards players can earn along the way help to make things a little easier.

Hogwarts Legacy has challenges that players can complete to earn special rewards. These rewards are doled out when players hit certain milestones in combat, quest completion, collectible hunting, etc. Oftentimes the rewards come in the form of new cosmetic items or gear for players to outfit their Hogwarts Legacy character with, but sometimes they are more important, like the storage expansion one gets for completing Merlin Trials.

In most games, rewards like this are earned automatically. Once players satisfy their requirements, they immediately get the reward. Reddit user nilerafter assumed Hogwarts Legacy worked the same way, but didn't realize until after they had already finished the main story and all the side quests that they needed to go into the game's menus and manually claim the rewards. This meant that even though they were completing Merlin Trials, they weren't getting the much-needed storage capacity increases.

Hogwarts Legacy players that don't increase their storage slots are going to have a rougher time when compared to those that do go out of their way to complete Merlin Trials and redeem their rewards. Hogwarts Legacy gear is plentiful, with players stumbling upon all kinds of loot during their adventure. Without the slot capacity increases, Hogwarts Legacy players have to spend more time scrapping and selling items. This is a nice heads-up for those who are just now starting their Hogwarts Legacy adventure with the freshly-released PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game so they don't make the same mistake as others have.

Nilerafter isn't the only Hogwarts Legacy player that didn't realize they needed to manually claim their rewards. It seems like it would be a helpful quality of life feature for the rewards to be redeemed automatically, so perhaps that will be considered for a future update. Hogwarts Legacy just received a big update that addressed many lingering problems with the game ahead of its PS4 and Xbox One launch, and so one has to imagine that future updates are a possibility as well.

After all, Hogwarts Legacy still has one other platform to release on before it's all said and done. The Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy is due to launch on July 25. No plans have been announced in regard to the Switch version of the game launching alongside any kind of update, but hopefully a helpful quality of life improvement like automatic reward redemption is at least being considered.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with a Nintendo Switch version releasing July 25.
