At this point, it can only be assumed that there is a Hogwarts Legacy sequel currently in the works, as Avalanche has yet to outright confirm that. It is now no secret how busy 2025 is for gaming, and the year has only just begun. Already, the release of Warhorse Studios' Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has proven to be a massive hit, effectively setting a precedent for the rest of the year's releases. On top of that, Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed has officially landed, and while it hasn't been received as well as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it has nonetheless captured the attention of Obsidian Entertainment and fantasy RPG fans who have been longing for another experience similar to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Although the rumored Hogwarts Legacy DLC may be able to avoid being overshadowed simply on account of the base game's success, it may still want to maintain a safe distance between it and 2025's biggest releases in order to maximize its attention.

Things are far from over for gaming in 2025, however, with plenty of other major releases on the way that could make things difficult for Hogwarts Legacy's rumored DLC. The launch of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is now here, and Monster Hunter Wilds is just around the corner. Furthermore, other major titles, like Assassin's Creed Shadows, Elden Ring Nightreign, and Borderlands 4 are still on the way, as well as some that don't have official release dates yet but are expected to launch sometime this year — including Ghost of Yotei, Grand Theft Auto 6, Fable, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and The Outer Worlds 2.
