Updated February 19, 2025, by Gemma Johnson: There are numerous secret locations for players to uncover in Hogwarts Legacy, not just within the grounds of Hogwarts Castle but across its massive open world. In a world bursting with magic, there are countless Hogwarts Legacy secrets for players to discover, whether secret rooms tucked away within the walls of Hogwarts castle, hidden passageways, or other more obscure locations that players might easily stroll past unknowingly. Finding every secret location in Hogwarts Legacy isn't just about repeatedly spamming Revelio. Players must often use specific spells to open up cleverly concealed areas behind seemingly innocent things in the environment. Some secret locations also take players further afield across its expansive open-world map and could be easily missed with so much ground to cover. Listed in no particular order, this update adds two new entries, giving players even more Hogwarts Legacy secrets to discover.
1 The Mysterious Map Room
A Map Revealing A Secret Room
- Location - on the left, as soon as players enter the Gryffindor Lower Hallway. Players should take the door left of the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame (via the South Wing) as a starting point and head across the small bridge to reach the Hallway.
One Hogwarts Legacy secret that's easy to miss is a seemingly innocent map on the wall leading to a secret room. If players zap the button above the map using the Depulso spell, the massive map of Argyllshire opens up to reveal a hidden room containing a Field Guide Page, a large chest, and a moth mirror on the wall to collect for those that don't already have it.
What's also interesting is the room is bursting with paintings to spot, including another Hogwarts Legacy Easter Egg with the wildlife painting that the Fat Lady hid in during the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. There are even paintings on the ceiling. One can only wonder who put them all in there or whether the paintings crept up there themselves for a bit of space.
2 Ravenclaw Tower Balcony
A Private Balcony With A View
- Location - at the top of Ravenclaw Tower, which Ravenclaw players can access through the locked door in the Ravenclaw common room or other players by flying there using a broom.
Ravenclaw's common room has many secrets in Hogwarts Legacy, but one most players may not know about is its private balcony with some epic views of Hogwarts. Fortunately, players don't have to be in Ravenclaw to see at least some of it. If players travel to the base of Ravenclaw Tower and fly outside using a broom, they can get quite close to the balcony to take a look. Of course, players can only fly near it and cannot land their broom there, so anyone wanting a closer look will need to be a Ravenclaw student.
The Ravenclaw private balcony is also kept under lock and key, so players must use the Alohomora spell to explore it on foot. Consequently, some players may not even know about the balcony's existence, especially if they played the game in a different Hogwarts House.
Hogwarts Legacy: 18 Character Mods You Should Try
The following ten mods offer more great options when customizing your character in Hogwarts Legacy.
3 Detention Chamber
An Unlockable Room That's Hiding A Dark Past
- Location - Behind a level two locked door in the Slytherin Dungeon, up the stairs past the Lower Grand Staircase Floo Flame.
While Revelio is an essential spell in Hogwarts Legacy, players must learn the art of picking locks to uncover all of Hogwarts Legacy's secrets. One room hidden out of sight is the Detention Chamber, a location with a dark past. According to the Detention Field Guide Page, it allegedly served as the school's preferred location for punishing students with physical torture, a practice since abolished.
Some noteworthy features include paintings that shush occupants and a gallery of rules on one wall. While a different set of rules for a different time, the styles of these frames look similar to Professor Umbridge's various decrees imposed in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It's certainly easy to imagine Umbridge enjoying the days of torture at Hogwarts if she was around.
4 The Chamber of Secrets Bathroom
A Subtle Nod To Salazar Slytherin's Secret
- Location - Inside the girls' bathroom in the Slytherin Dungeon, just past the Lower Grand Staircase Floo Flame.
Another Hogwarts Legacy secret tucked away in the Slytherin Dungeon, which some players could unknowingly stroll past, is the Chamber of Secrets Bathroom. Hidden in plain sight, players can enter the girls' bathroom here to find Salazar Slytherin's secret sink entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
Although players can't enter the Chamber, they can collect a Field Guide Page near the Sink that hints at the Chamber of Secrets entrance and points to a strange snake symbol on one of the taps. On closer inspection, players can spot a small symbol on the right side of the tap opposite the entrance to the room. While more of a Hogwarts Legacy Easter Egg, it's a feature that some players could easily miss.
5 Gryffindor Common Room Secret Storage Room
A Grandfather Clock Guarding A Hidden Room
- Location - Behind the Grandfather Clock in Gryffindor Common Room
Like other Hogwarts House common rooms, there are also several Gryffindor common room secrets to uncover in Hogwarts Legacy. One of these is a secret room cleverly hidden behind a Grandfather Clock in one corner of the room. When players stand next to the clock, it opens up as a hidden doorway that players can enter to find the Gryffindor common room secret storage room.
The room contains features like various lion statues, trophies, a painting, chairs stacked as high as the ceiling, and other miscellaneous items. In the corner of the room, players can also find a level three chest to open.

6 The Secret Quidditch Room In The Library Fireplace
A Secret Room For Quidditch Fans To Enjoy
- Location - Behind the fireplace in the Hogwarts Castle Library (in the Library Annex)
Hogwarts Legacy's recreation of Hogwarts Castle has several grand fireplaces decorating its beautifully detailed rooms, but some hold secrets behind their flames. Players who use the Glacius spell to freeze the fireplace in front of the globe in the Library can enter a tiny room that seems dedicated to Quidditch. There are moving Quidditch paintings on the wall, including one of a student flying on a broom in front of Hogwarts Castle.
Additionally, there are a couple of posters on the walls depicting Quidditch teams called the Montrose Magpies and Chudley Cannons, a tapestry, and some other ornaments to check out. While the Library is a sizable space, players can find the secret room behind the fireplace on the first floor, not far from the entrance to the Restricted Section.
7 A Niffler Tea Party With A View
The Perfect Photo Spot With Unlimited Cups Of Tea Near Hogwarts Castle
- Location - At the top of a cliff overlooking the north-west of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle
Players looking for the best locations for Hogwarts Legacy's photo mode should check out the Niffler tea party with a spectacular view of Hogwarts Castle and the surrounding landscape. Also overlooking Hogsmeade and the Quidditch pitch, players can find this adorable tea party spot by climbing to the top of the cliff, as pictured on the map above. At the top, players can find two plushies that seem to be enjoying a tea party, including a cute Niffler. Players can also drink the cups of tea, which automatically refills after around five seconds.
Hogwarts Legacy: Largest Beasts & Creatures, Ranked
These beasts and creatures in Hogwarts Legacy are by far the largest beings that players will encounter in their journey through the Wizarding World.
It's a Hogwarts Legacy secret that many players could easily miss, given its small area in the open landscape surrounding the castle and its height.
8 The Tilted House
A Quirky And Cozy Countryside Location Worth A Visit
- Location - Close to the center of Keenbridge
Heading south of Hogwarts Castle and into the countryside, players can find a quirky and cozy Tilted House in the village of Keenbridge, as pictured on the map above. It's a wonky house uprooted by an adjoining tree that looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. While not strictly hidden, it's a secret location that not all players may know about. Stepping inside the Tilted House can feel a bit strange with its off-kilter flooring, making it one of the more unique places to visit beyond Hogwarts Castle.
Inside the house, players can find a chest and sack to open, plus a bowl of treats and a tankard to consume. There's also a painting above the fireplace, which could presumably be of the owner of this cozy cottage-style location, and a Hogwarts Valley field guide page to collect for the Tilted House.
9 Secret Fireplace Room
Professor Sharp's Surprisingly Well-Hidden Recreational Room
- Location - Behind the fireplace inside Professor Sharp's room on the second floor of the Faculty Tower near the Hospital Wing.
Sometimes, Hogwarts Legacy's secrets hide in plain sight. At least, that's the case with the seemingly normal-looking fireplace inside Professor Sharp's living quarters. However, if players cast Glacius on the large fireplace, the spell freezes the flames, enabling them to creep inside to find a secret room filled with wood crafting tools and drawings.
9 Awesome Things You Didn't Know You Could Do In Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is such an expansive game that some players may not know they can engage in the following activities.
Various sketches adorn the room, and players can activate the gramophone to hear the clock chime. It's also worth studying the drawings of various Hogwarts Legacy locations. This spot is one of the few fireplaces in the castle holding this neat trick.
10 Secret Death Day Party Room
Offers A Brief Look Into What The Ghosts Of Hogwarts Get Up To
- Location - Behind a level 1 locked door in the Slytherin Dungeons below the stairway entrance to the Great Hall.
The Death Day Party room is another of Hogwarts Legacy's secret rooms that's easy to miss. It's a blue, candle-lit room full of ghosts dancing and chatting, giving players a little behind-the-scenes snippet of ghost life in Hogwarts Castle and a field guide page.
One of the best ways to find this well-hidden secret room is to travel to the Viaduct Courtyard Floo Flame, enter the Grant Staircase entrance, and take a right down the narrow spiral stairs leading to the Slytherin Dungeon. Players can follow the path left until they find a locked level one Alohomora gate on the left side of the corridor leading to the room.
