Every Thursday, developer Jam City releases a new update for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the commercially successful mobile game based on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This Thursday was no different, but unfortunately for fans who want to see what happens next in the main story, the latest update for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery didn't add Year 5 Chapter 11.

Instead of adding Year 5 Chapter 11 to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery this week, Jam City added a new limited-time side quest about rounding up missing magical beasts with Hagrid and Professor Kettleburn. This limited-time side quest also featured an appearance from Amos Diggory, the overly-enthusiastic father of the ill-fated Cedric Diggory from the main Harry Potter  franchise.

However, there have been some technical issues with the Magical Creatures side quest, and so Jam City has removed it from the game for the time being. It's unclear if players' progress in the side quest will be saved once it's added back, but this could lead to some frustration, especially if some players spent money on the game's controversial microtransactions to progress through it quicker.

While the technical difficulties with the new limited-time side quest are unfortunate, the latest update also seems to have at least fixed one bug that was plaguing the game. Despite Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players unlocking Diagon Alley by playing through Year 5 Chapter 10, it remained locked on their list of locations they could travel to until just recently. Now Hogwarts Mystery players can add Diagon Alley to their rounds and snag an extra bit of free energy each day.

The update also seems to have added some new sales in the shop, just in case some players missed the Black Friday sales and want to bust out their wallet for gems and cosmetic items. Some free cosmetic items are also available as part of the "Brewing Up Something Magical!" In-game event that was added earlier this week, and it also gives players the opportunity to earn some notebooks as well.

Hopefully Jam City fixes the issues with Hogwarts Mystery's latest limited-time side quest sooner rather than later, and fans waiting for Year 5 Chapter 11 will just have to keep their fingers crossed that the new story content comes with next week's update.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
