Hollow Knight features a sprawling world, rich with detail and hidden secrets around any corner. But, with a pile of Geo growing heavier as the Knight delves deeper into the depths of Hallownest, it's prudent to know where to spend hard-earned Geo on critical tools like Charms, maps, nail upgrades, and more—or even where to turn in valuable Relics to increase the Knight's Geo collection even further.
This guide aims to detail every merchant that can be found in the game, along with their location and inventory, so players can make informed decisions about where to spend their precious Geo on their journey through the compelling underground world of Hollow Knight.
Spoiler Alert: The guide below details info such as location names and in-game events that players might otherwise wish to experience organically through gameplay. Proceed with caution.
Originally Written by Daniel Dilena; updated by Jeff Brooks on October 18, 2025: This guide has been overhauled to include additional NPC merchants who were missing from its original publishing (Cornifer, Divine, and Steel Soul Jinn), as well as removing an NPC who doesn't qualify as a merchant (The Last Stag). In addition to a rewritten intro and expanded info on each merchant, this guide also now includes a breakdown of each merchant's inventory (items, prices, and descriptions), as well as any particulars about their location(s).

Charm Lover Salubra (Forgotten Crossroads)
Charms are one of the most important pieces of combat equipment in Hollow Knight, as they provide players with powerful buffs. To equip a Charm, players will need to collect Charm Notches (11 in total) which can be bought or found throughout the game.
As players can imagine, Charm Lover Salubra is a key merchant for purchasing Charms and Charm Notches. This Merchant can be found at the bottom of Forgotten Crossroad (near Blue Lake). Charm Lover Salubra sells five Charms and four Charm Notches, plus one special item that players can only buy after they obtain all 40 Charms.

Confessor Jiji (Dirtmouth)
Players can find Confessor Jiji on the outskirts of Dirtmouth, on the far right side at the base of the cliff. To reach Confessor Jiji, players must first locate a Simple Key, since this Merchant is located behind a locked door. Players can find a Simple Key in various locations, but the closest one can be bought from Sly in Dirtmouth for 950 Geo (after Sly sets up shop there).
Confessor Jiji offers the unique service of summoning the Shade of the player from wherever the player died in exchange for a Rancid Egg. This service is incredibly useful if a player dies in an area difficult to reach. However, players will still need to defeat the Shade to recover lost Geo and restore the Soul Meter.
Confessor Jiji is replaced by Steel Soul Jinn in Steel Soul Mode.
Cornifer (Dynamic Location)
Cornifer is a wandering merchant (of sorts) in that he is exploring and mapping out all of Hallownest, and he will sell the maps for the game's various locations. He can typically be found humming off the beaten path in any given area, with a trail of dropped papers leading to him.
If an area has been mostly explored (or its area boss has been defeated), Cornifer will eventually leave the area. To purchase the map at that point, players should return to his wife Iselda's shop in Dirtmouth, where she will sell the unclaimed maps for areas the Knight has explored.
Iselda sells the area maps for a slight mark-up, so purchase them from Cornifer before he leaves an area to save a bit of Geo.

- After acquiring all the game's maps, Cornifer will permanently relocate to Iselda's shop in Dirtmouth.
Divine (Dirtmouth with The Grimme Troupe DLC)
Divine arrives in Dirtmouth as part of The Grimm Troupe DLC and offers up the most expensive purchases in the game. She functions a bit differently than other merchants, however. Rather than selling items outright, she can be fed Fragile Charms, after which she will eventually request a specific amount of Geo (detailed on the table below). Once she has been fed the appropriate amount of Geo, she will produce the Unbreakable version of the previously Fragile Charm. Fragile Charms can be acquired from the merchant Leg Eater.
If/when the Grimm Troupe is banished, Divine will disappear with the rest of the Grimm Troupe, and she will leave any Fragile Charms she's been fed in her previous location. If the player defeats Nightmare King Grimm, Divine will remain until all three Fragile Charms are upgraded.

Iselda (Dirtmouth)
The Stationary pairing with Cornifer, his wife Iselda runs the shop in Dirtmouth, selling maps and mapping tools to make the player's journey a bit easier. Iselda's shop can be found next to the Stag Station of Dirtmouth. Iselda sells 13 Maps, two Mapping Tools, and 13 Map Pins, all of which are bought with Geo.
To gain access to the maps in Iselda's shop, players will need to explore an area and miss purchasing its map from Cornifer. After Cornifer leaves an area, the map will then be sold in Iselda's shop (for a slight mark-up).

Things Hollow Knight Does Better Than Nearly Every Other Game
Hollow Knight deserves the hype it gets, especially when it comes to these things.
Leg Eater (Fungal Wastes)
Players that want to equip the best Charms in Hollow Knight will want to visit Leg Eater, who sells the Fragile Heart, Fragile Greed, and Fragile Strength Charms. Players can find Leg Eater in the Fungal Waste area, which is near the entrance to the Forgotten Crossroads.
These Fragile Charms aren't ordinary Charms since they'll break and become useless once the Knight dies. The good news is that Leg Eater can repair these Fragile Charms...for a price.
If the player is wearing the Defender's Crest Charm, Leg Eater will offer the player a 20% discount on repairs.

For a late-game Geo sink, consider upgrading the Fragile Charms to their Unbreakable versions via Divine from The Grimm Troupe DLC.
Little Fool (Colosseum of Fools)
Many players struggle to farm enough Geo to upgrade their Knight and equipment, since there are limited areas to farm it effectively. The Colosseum of Fools is one of the best areas to farm Geo, but players must ensure they are prepared to face the Trials—they're not a walk in the park.
Players who want to start a Trial need to speak to Little Fool, who can be found at the top of the western chasm of Kingdom's Edge. Little Fool offers three trials for a set price of Geo, each offering a different difficulty level. His offerings stretch the 'merchant' moniker a bit, but he's well worth including here.

Millibelle the Banker (Fog Canyon & City of Tears)
Also stretching the 'merchant' epithet, Millibelle acts as a way for the Knight to store up their Geo in a (relatively) safe way. Geo is the main currency of Hollow Knight, being primarily used to acquire gear and unlock certain features. But, once a player dies, they lose all of their Geo and cannot regain it unless they return to retrieve it (or pay Confessor Jiji a visit).
Players that want to avoid losing their Geo will want to visit Millibelle the Banker, since she can store up to 4,500 Geo from the player. Millibelle the Banker is initially found at Fog Canyon, but if a player deposits over 2,550 Geo, she'll disappear to the Pleasure House in City of Tears.
Nailsmith (City of Tears)
The nail is the default weapon the Knight uses to defeat enemies. Players start with the Old Nail, which only deals five Damage, but the Nailsmith can upgrade it to Pure Nail status to deal 21 points of damage per strike. As players can imagine, fully upgrading the nail is necessary to beat some of Hollow Knight's most challenging boss fights.
In order to fully upgrade the Knight's nail, players will need to track down Pale Ore hidden throughout Hallownest.
Players can find the Nailsmith in the far southwest corner of City of Tears in a tiny hut.

Relic Seeker Lemm (City of Tears)
While exploring Hallownest, players will likely come across Relics (Wanderer's Journal, Hallownest Seal, King's Idol, and Arcane Egg). These Relics can be sold to Relic Seeker Lemm for a decent amount of Geo.
Lemm's shop can be found near the big fountain in City of Tears. After selling Relics to Lemm, he will share some brief information about the kingdom of Hallownest.
After defeating one of the three Dreamers, Relic Seeker Lemm will momentarily close his shop, but he will return to it once the player interacts with him near the big fountain in City of Tears.

8 Metroidvania Games With the Best Exploration, Ranked
Metroidvanias are known for sprawling world designs and a focus on backtracking and discovery. These titles offer the best exploration in the genre.
Sly (Forgotten Crossroads & Dirtmouth)
Sly's shop is the equivalent of a General Store, where he sells items that players will need throughout their journey through Hallownest. Sly can first be found at the bottom of the Forgotten Crossroads, but he later moves into a little shop in Dirtmouth.
Aside from the Simple Keys and Lumafly Lantern, Sly also sells Charms and Vessels. Players can unlock more items from his shop by presenting Sly with a Shopkeeper's Key found at Crystal Peak. Once players learn all three Nail Arts from the Nailmasters, they should return to Sly for a special surprise.

Steel Soul Jinn (Dirtmouth)
Steel Soul Jinn is a unique NPC who only appears in Steel Soul Mode, a permadeath difficulty that is unlocked after beating the game. Steel Soul Jinn takes the place of Confessor Jiji on the outskirts of Dirtmouth. Since Confessor Jiji's service of retrieving the Knight's Shade after death would be a useless feature on Steel Soul Mode, Steel Soul Jinn will instead buy Rancid Eggs for 290–449 Geo.
Tuk (Royal Waterways)
Tuk is a scavenger of sorts lurking in a hidden room in Royal Waterways (northeast corner). Her inventory is limited, however; she only sells Rancid Eggs for 80–100 Geo. Since the only items that Confessor Jiji accepts as payment for summoning a player's lost Shade are Rancid Eggs, having several of them can be a lifesaver for a smooth playthrough. There are a variety of ways players can obtain Rancid Eggs, but buying them from Tuk is by far the quickest method. She will sell Rancid Eggs infinitely as long as the player doesn't have 80 on them; if they have 80 or more, Tuk refuses to sell more.
Tuk is not available in Steel Soul Mode as a merchant, but players should visit the location for a shocking discovery.
