Cogfly is a tool Hornet can use to summon small flying companions in Hollow Knight: Silksong. These companions are handy in battles, especially if the enemy likes to fly around a lot. Additionally,
Cogfly are a great help in certain quests, like the Great Taste of Pharloom, when Hornet must deliver the Courier's Rasher within the time limit without getting hit.

How To Get The Cogfly (Tool) In Silksong
Cogfly can be crafted using Craftmetal in a room inside the High Halls in Silksong. You can start at the top western corner of the Choral Chambers to reach the area and eventually claim the tool. The path Hornet will take is the same as when going to learn the Conductor's Melody in HK Silksong. If players are familiar with it, head left before gliding down to reach the station and the bench. If not, travel to the Grand Bellway and proceed to the Cogwork Dancers boss room to start from there. The following skills are required to explore the High Halls:
From the Cogwork Dancers boss room, head left and stay in the same direction until a bench appears. Double jump up and harpoon the needle into the rings to go higher. Repeat the same steps by using the rest of the rings to reach the top. Proceed right to reach a wide horizontal room with running water and platforms. Hornet is now in the High Halls. Jump on the platforms and hook onto the rings when necessary to move on to the next room.
Look up to see a giant wheel spinning. Harpoon into one of the rings to go up, then do the same thing to the upper wheel. Use a combination of skills to go higher and enter the next room to the right.
Similar to when players first arrived at High Halls, jump onto the platforms full of enemies and hook onto the floating rings to move forward into the following room.
Look down and glide while avoiding the spikes, then quickly use
Clawline to hang onto the ring. This will remove the spike obstacles and reveal a path down. Keep going down using the same technique, and Hornet will eventually find an enemy across a path to the left.
Enter the left room to find the
Cogfly tool at the end of the path. Inspect the tool and use a Craftmetal to construct it. Now, when you rest on a bench, equip the Cogfly to use them in battles. Players can also combine the flying companions with the
Pollip Pouch they obtain during the Rite of the Pollip quest to apply venom and deal extra damage.
Craftmetal is obtained through various methods in Silksong. You can buy it from merchants like Pebb at the beginning of the game in Bone Bottom or find it while exploring Pharloom, like in The Marrow near Hunter's March, or at the end of the lake in Fleatopia.
