Hollow Knight: Silksong is getting its second post-launch patch soon, and Team Cherry has unveiled what's in it. The long-awaited sequel spent years in development, and by and large, players and critics alike have seemed more than pleased with its initial state, but the dev team is still fine-tuning the title. As part of that endeavor, Hollow Knight: Silksong Version 1.0.28626 is now live in the public beta and will release to all players soon.
Unsurprisingly, the metroidvania is off to a blistering start. Since releasing in early September, Hollow Knight: Silksong has amassed over 5 million players across all platforms, and half a million of those users jumped to the game on Steam within hours of its launch. As its numbers continue to climb, both current and new players can look forward to some upcoming tweaks and changes that should make Silksong a more polished experience.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Being Review Bombed
Hollow Knight: Silksong may be one of the biggest sequels of the year, but some fans are incredibly unhappy with the title for a very valid reason.
Team Cherry announced the new patch on September 16, confirming that beta participants can try it out now before it goes live across the board. While the devs didn't name a specific release date, they said they were "getting close to finalising" it, so the wait won't be long for anyone not in the public beta. The first Silksong update made the game slightly easier by adjusting the difficulty of two early game bosses. The second doesn't technically include any more difficulty tweaks, but it does fix several bugs that may have given players a harder time than intended. That includes fixing some enemies drifting out of bounds, addressing some unreachable cocoon locations, and fixing the Volt Filament damage multiplier not applying everywhere it should.
The upcoming patch also clarifies the Herald's Wish achievement to make it easier to understand what players need to do to earn it. While users don't have to complete all Silksong wishes to 100% the game, some fans will inevitably want to finish everything the title has to offer, and the updated description should make it easier to learn how to do so. Much of the update focuses on smaller bug fixes and tweaks, some of which affect gameplay, and some of which are mostly visual.
Fans who've struggled with how Silksong is harder than the first Hollow Knight game may be disappointed to learn that there aren't any more difficulty-lowering adjustments on the horizon for now. At the same time, others will likely be thankful for the challenge. Whatever the case, Silksong has already become an undeniable success, and future updates should refine it even further. Team Cherry says the final version of this latest update will likely be slightly different from the current beta build, but fans won't have to wait long to find out for themselves how it impacts the game.
