Team Cherry released Update 4 for Hollow Knight: Silksong, bringing additional fixes and improvements to the hit game while also incorporating a fan mod to solve one of the trickier issues. Following the surprising launch back in September, Hollow Knight: Silksong has become a massive success for Team Cherry.

However, even with all the praise and positive word of mouth, Silksong hasn't been without its frustrations from time to time. Many in the community have questioned the game's spike in difficulty, with some saying Hollow Knight: Silksong is too hard. Complaints have ranged from Hornet's hit box seemingly being too big or taking double damage from bosses have made the experience more stressful for some, though it's possible that with a few upgrades and found items, things could turn for these players. Either way, Team CHerry continues to chip away at the game, making further improvements to its hit title.

Hollow Knight Silksong Player Shares Intriguing Theory About Herrah the Beast

A Hollow Knight: Silksong fan shares a thought-provoking theory about Herrah the Beast, the Weavers, and the discrepancies in their designs.

While Patch 4 for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been in public beta for a few weeks, Team Cherry has been able to finalize the content and push it live to all PC players, and should be arriving soon to those on console. The biggest issue has been with the Simplified Chinese translation, which has seen multiple versions during the beta portion of this update. It seems none of the adjustments were to the studio or community's satisfaction, so Team Cherry has enlisted the help of fan group Team Cart Fix. The group has released its own translation through a mod and with a lot of praise for the work done already, Team Cherry has worked with them to officially add it to the game.

Alongside the new translation update, the patch also contains plenty of fixes to existing bugs and problems. Players also have new visual options like a film grain effect and more dithering levels if they want. However, one of the bigger additions in this patch is the switch to Unity's Input System to further improve controller support, including the PS5 DualSense, Xbox 360, and more. According to Team Cherry, this means rumble is now available for various controllers, while overall support for more controller types has been expanded, though the studio warns that some issues may remain.

After the first Hollow Knight: Silksong update tweaked the difficulty of some enemies, it seems like Team CHerry is largely satisfied with the current difficulty curve. In fact, the developer has already confirmed that Silksong is intentionally more difficult than its predecessor, as the lead character, Hornet, is "much faster and more skillful" than the Knight. As such, enemies had to be a bit more complicated and intelligent to compensate. Another difference is that players are able to go off the normal path, finding new ways around, earning more resources and upgrades to overcome some of the challenge.
