Hollow Knight: Silksong has already become a huge hit, but some gamers already have a pet peeve with the eagerly awaited game: they think it's too hard. Team Cherry’s original platformer was already known for being difficult, and some people seem to believe that Hollow Knight: Silksong is an even more stressful experience.
Silksong started its development as DLC for the original Hollow Knight. Over time, the project's scope expanded, and Hollow Knight: Silksong ultimately evolved into a full-fledged sequel. After years of waiting, the fanbase recently rejoiced when Hollow Knight: Silksong was released on September 4.

Some Gamers Think Silksong Is Much Harder Than the Original Hollow Knight
Despite the overall positive impressions regarding Silksong, not all gamers are happy with Hollow Knight’s sequel. In multiple social media posts (spotted by Tech Radar), gamers have major complaints about Hollow Knight: Silksong, with some saying that too many bosses deal double damage and Hornet’s hitbox often feels “too big.” Some of these gamers are unhappy that Silksong appears to be considerably more challenging than its predecessor, especially since some fights cause the player to lose two masks simply by touching enemies, a phenomenon that was not as common in Hollow Knight. Some other players, however, have argued that Hornet moves much faster than the Knight, which would even out the difficulty as soon as gamers become accustomed to her movement set.
The original Hollow Knight is considered one of the best Metroidvanias ever made, so it feels natural that Silksong would be more difficult, as most gamers are expected to have already played the first entry in the franchise. In any case, time will tell whether Silksong will really be considered so much more difficult over time, or if these are only first impressions by part of the community.
In any case, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a huge hit by essentially all metrics. The game is currently peaking at over 540,000 simultaneous players on Steam at the time of this writing, and numbers are expected to rise even higher during the weekend.
Hollow Knight: Silksong was so popular that it even broke Steam, the Xbox Store, and the Nintendo eShop upon its release. These platforms were very slow, and some gamers experienced errors when trying to use them. So far, Team Cherry has not yet divulged official sales information about its newest game, but it seems fair to say that Silksong has already been an incredibly popular release, and it looks like the hype won’t slow down any time soon.
