Team Cherry has released a new update for Hollow Knight: Silksong. The latest Hollow Knight: Silksong patch addresses bugs and introduces enhanced controller support, further improving the overall gaming experience for fans.

A new Hollow Knight: Silksong mod can make the game even harder

Released on September 4, Silksong was among the most eagerly awaited titles of 2025. Team Cherry’s new game has managed to earn almost universal critical acclaim, and Hollow Knight: Silksong became a huge hit immediately following its launch. According to the developers, the title has reached over 5 million players, with over 3 million units sold on Steam, and even more gamers coming from other platforms, including subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass.

4 Metroidvania Games That Are Officially Harder Than Silksong

Silksong has been lauded for its difficult gameplay, but there are other Metroidvania games that pose an even greater challenge.

With Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Version 1.0.28891 update, the Metroidvania title has received support for Dualsense Edge on PlayStation and for “various controllers” on Mac computers. The newest patch is around the same size as the previous Hollow Knight: Silksong update. It does not introduce any major new content, but it fixes quite a few glitches and introduces several balance changes. Some examples of changes include damage scaling on Rune Rage to match other Silk Skills, fixing situations where gamers could reach out-of-bounds areas, making a slight increase to Sharp Dart and Cross Stitch damage, and much more. One useful fix was correcting a soft-lock that could be caused during the Grand Gate opening sequence in case the Citadel was visited previously, but some Bellshrines remained inactive.

Additionally, Silksong will now finally pause when a controller is disconnected, which could be useful to avoid deaths when this issue occurs. As usual, the patch notes end by stating that the update also makes “various other smaller tweaks and fixes.” It’s possible that Team Cherry will once again make significant changes to Silksong not described in the patch, but gamers should not hold their breath for secret tweaks.

It’s expected that Team Cherry will eventually release more new content for Silksong, but considering the team’s size and how long it took for the game to finally be released, this could take a while. In the meantime, PC gamers can use mods to get different experiences while playing Silksong. Earlier this week, a new Hollow Knight: Silksong mod called Crest Master was released, allowing gamers to play the title on an even higher difficulty. By introducing a crest that removes Hornet’s cloak and needle, the mod seems like a good pick for veterans who have already mastered the platformer and want to try out some fresh challenges.
