Using the many blocks in Minecraft, one Hollow Knight fan has recreated the iconic White Palace area from the 2017 Metroidvania. The popularity of Hollow Knight is spiking, as fans wait for the imminent release of Silksong on September 4. Ahead of launch, players have shared tributes to the first game developed by Team Cherry, with Minecraft serving as a creative canvas for one fan’s White Palace design.

As one of the most successful indie games of all time, there are many reasons for the popularity of Hollow Knight. Among those, the game’s massive world earned particular praise. Players get to traverse the Kingdom of Hallownest, which has fallen into ruin. Throughout the adventure, many unique areas in the subterranean kingdom will open up for exploration and combat. Recently, one player paid homage to one of these iconic, albeit grueling, locations.

Hollow Knight Fan Builds the White Palace in Minecraft

In a Reddit post, a user known as MegaUltra_XY shared a look at their recreation of the White Palace in Minecraft. As seen in the images, they replicated the aesthetic of both the exterior and interior of the Hollow Knight location, which has become infamous for its challenging platforming segments. According to MegaUltra_XY, it was difficult to translate the 2D environment to the 3D world of Minecraft. Nevertheless, the player achieved an incredible result, with numerous community members upvoting the build.

While MegaUltra_XY tried to stay faithful to the original design of the White Palace, some creative liberties had to be taken when converting the design to Minecraft. However, the Reddit user tied everything together by incorporating the iconic elements of the Hollow Knight area, including dream particles and the deadly buzzsaws. They even added the throne room from the game. In the comments, the Reddit user revealed that the Minecraft recreation took approximately two and a half months to complete, with them usually working two hours a day on the project. In addition to the Reddit post, they also shared a time-lapse video of the build on YouTube.

This recreation of the White Palace is one of many impressive builds shown off by the Minecraft community in recent months. For example, one player utilized the many blocks in the game to create a massive Happy Ghast Statue in their world. Furthermore, others have been coming up with creative builds that feature new items from recent snapshots, such as the Shelf block.

With Hollow Knight: Silksong less than two weeks away from release, it will be interesting to see what other fan creations are shared. Given the new world of Silksong, it will likely become the focus of new fan projects. Hopefully, they will feature the same level of detail as MegaUltra_XY’s recent creation.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
