With the recent successful launch of HoloCure on Steam, the free-to-play Vampire Survivors- like saw a large influx of new players, with many being attracted by its gameplay, art style, the Hololive IP, or the monetization-free nature of the game. One burning question that many new players might have is "What does the eliminate ability do in HoloCure?" They may also be wondering how to unlock it. This guide will go into detail about the very important mechanic that players may be missing out on.
HoloCure wears its Vampire Survivors inspiration on its sleeve, from the similar (but different) gameplay to some similar mechanics. The eliminate mechanic in HoloCure is no exception to this, as it is most closely comparable to Vampire Survivor's own "banish" mechanic. Eliminate will essentially allow players to, upon level-up, remove an item or upgrade that they rolled from appearing again via level-up in that run. This allows players to fine-tune their run just a little bit more, ensuring that an item or ability they have no interest in using will not appear again, thus freeing up an additional roll for potentially useful items and abilities.
It is important to note that, while 'Eliminate' will prevent items from appearing via level-up, it does not affect Holozon boxes.
HoloCure: How To Unlock Eliminate
In order to unlock the eliminate mechanic in HoloCure, players will first have to do a few runs to accumulate enough HoloCoins for the initial unlock (2,500 HoloCoins). This purchase can be accessed via the shop's enhancements tab, with the first purchase of 'eliminate' unlocking the mechanic.
Each subsequent purchase of the eliminate enhancement will allow the player to use eliminate more times per run, up to 10 times. The total cost of all the eliminate purchases is 137,500 HoloCoins. It is important to note that, unlike the re-roll ability, which is otherwise unlocked and works in a similar way, eliminate can only be used once per level-up.
HoloCure: How to Use Eliminate
Once players have unlocked the ability to use eliminate, the button will now be available on the level-up screen when playing a run. In order to use the mechanic, simply press the eliminate button, which will then turn all the level-up choices red.
Players should choose the option that they do not want to appear again in subsequent level-ups, and it will be removed from the list (but will not be replaced, eliminate is not a re-roll). Below is a video that showcases the eliminate mechanic in action.
