Bailu is considered a standout among the standard stellar warp 5-star characters in Honkai: Star Rail. With her Lightning element and, more specifically, her Abundance path, she occupies a unique position as one of the only two available healers until the introduction of future characters. This makes her an invaluable addition to early game teams, where players fortunate enough to obtain her can greatly benefit from her remarkable healing prowess. Furthermore, her special ability to prevent an ally from being knocked down once per battle adds an extra layer of protection and resilience.

Honkai: Star Rail - The Trailblazer Early Build Guide

The Trailblazer serves as Honkai: Star Rail's main character and player Avatar, and is an excellent addition to many teams.

Even as the game progresses and new characters are introduced, Bailu will continue to hold relevance. This is particularly evident in challenging content such as the higher levels of Forgotten Hall, where players must construct two teams and ensure their characters do not meet defeat. In such scenarios, Bailu's healing capabilities become even more vital for sustaining the team's overall survival for one of the teams. Despite having a few downsides, such as the occasional unreliability of her skill healing and limited utility compared to some other characters, Bailu remains a unit worthy of investment and team-building. Her exceptional healing power and unique ability to safeguard allies make her an indispensable asset, contributing to the success and longevity of players' journeys in Honkai: Star Rail. Luckily, she is not a particularly difficult character to build to get optimal results.

Updated on October 13th, 2023 by Elara Leclair: With the addition of new Abundance characters such as Luocha and Lynx, and the anticipated arrival of Huo Huo, Bailu has seen a decrease in popularity. However, for players in search of a competent healer character who isn't only obtainable through limited banners, she remains the sole 5-star rarity option. While she may have been overshadowed by others who bring more utility with debuff dispelling abilities and such, in terms of actual healing output, Bailu still ranks among the highest. Fortunately, the introduction of new relics and planar ornaments allows players to further enhance her potential and provide additional benefits to allies beyond just healing. However, her light cone preferences have remained largely unchanged, with not many new options introduced.

Best Relics For Bailu

Honkai_ Star Rail – Bailu Best Relics

The ideal Cavern Relic set for Bailu used to be the Passerby of Wandering Cloud (4p). However, the introduction of sets like Longevous Disciple and Messenger Traversing Hackerspace has provided players with the flexibility to mix and match different sets to enhance Bailu's potential further. While Bailu doesn't necessarily need a lot of Speed on her own, those who want to make the most of her abilities might consider the 4-piece set of Longevous Disciple to boost her own Speed and provide a Speed buff to all allies upon using her Ultimate. Alternatively, mixing 2-piece sets of Passerby of Wandering Cloud, Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, or Longevous Disciple can be effective based on individual preference and gear with the most optimal stats. With these mix-and-match options available, players should no longer consider the 4-piece set of Passerby of Wandering Cloud, as its 4-piece effect is not as valuable, as it triggers only once at the start of the battle to gain one addition skill point.

As for the Planary ornaments, players have two choices. The first option is the Fleet of the Ageless (2p), which not only boosts Bailu's HP for enhanced healing, but also grants an ATK buff to all allies if her speed exceeds 120, adding a support function alongside her healing abilities. On the other hand, the Broken Keel set is another excellent choice for Bailu. This set not only focuses on increasing Bailu's Effect RES but also grants a Crit DMG bonus to all allies once the threshold is reached. Both sets are quite viable, and the choice between them ultimately depends on whether players find Speed or Effect RES more valuable for Bailu. Both thresholds are relatively easy to achieve and offer additional support capabilities for Bailu, making her more than just a healer by benefiting the entire team.

The gentle doctor of Belobog's underworld is a strong healer in Honkai: Star Rail, and, ironically, she's also a good scrapper when built correctly.

In terms of the main stats, players should aim for:

  • Body: Outgoing Healing Boost
  • Feet: HP% or Speed
  • Planar Sphere: HP%
  • Link Rope: HP% or Energy Regen Rate

When it comes to sub-stats, the priority for Bailu should be HP% > Flat HP > Speed > Effect RES in order to maximize her healing potential.

Best Light Cones For Bailu

Fortunately, there are several gacha and F2P light cone options available for Bailu's Abundance path, all of which are generally effective. Among them, Bailu's signature 5-star light cone, Time Waits for No One, stands out as an excellent choice. It not only boosts Bailu's HP but also adds extra DPS by launching a lightning attack based on Bailu's outgoing healing whenever a healed ally attacks the enemy. However, this light cone is currently only obtainable through gacha or by redeeming it from the Store for 600 Starlight, although this option is not recommended.

4-star characters in Honkai: Star Rail can be brilliant support and DPS if players know how to use them.

Other options for light cones include Post-Op Conversation and Shared Feeling, both of which are 4-star light cones. These provide additional outgoing healing and energy regeneration, albeit with different conditions and values. Another viable option is the 3-star light cone called Cornucopia, which increases outgoing healing for both skills and the ultimate. It serves as a valuable F2P option for players.

Trace Priority For Bailu

Honkai_ Star Rail – Bailu Trace Priority

When considering all aspects of Bailu's kit, the priority for upgrading should be as follows: Ultimate > Skill > Talent > Basic Attack. Additionally, players should focus on unlocking her Ascension Traces and minor traces related to HP% whenever possible, as these enhancements further strengthen her healing abilities. By doing so, players can maximize their resource efficiency and achieve an optimal build for Bailu.

Considering her role as a healer, most of Bailu's skills and passives are focused on restoring the HP of her team members. Among them, her Ultimate ability, Leap of Marsh Drakon, should be given the highest priority. This powerful AoE healing skill can greatly restore the health of all team members, making it a vital tool, especially when facing bosses that primarily deal AoE damage. In addition to the immediate healing effect, Bailu's Ultimate also grants a valuable "Invigorated" buff to the party members. This buff enables them to receive additional healing whenever they are hit for the next 2 or 3 turns, depending on whether players have already ascended Bailu or not. This additional healing can be a significant advantage, providing sustained support and helping the team withstand enemy assaults more effectively.

Singing Among Clouds, which is Bailu's skill, is another valuable component of her kit. This skill enables Bailu to heal an ally at the expense of a skill point. However, it's important to note that although the skill bounces around, there is no guarantee which allies it will target, making it less reliable compared to her Ultimate ability. Nevertheless, as a single-target healing skill, it remains dependable since it will always heal the selected ally at least once. Therefore, it is advisable for players to upgrade both Bailu's Ultimate and her skill to enhance her overall healing capabilities as they level her up. By doing so, they can maximize the effectiveness of her healing support in the team, ensuring that she can provide crucial healing support to her allies in various situations.

Gourdful of Elixir is Bailu's talent, which primarily affects the amount of healing she provides when an "Invigorated" ally is hit. Upgrading this talent also increases the amount of HP an ally recovers when they are knocked down. A higher talent level can potentially prevent them from being immediately defeated again after this passive ability activates. On the other hand, Bailu's basic attack does not have any restorative effects on her allies. Instead, it inflicts damage on enemies based on her Basic ATK. While it can contribute to reducing the toughness meter of enemies, it won't deal significant damage since its effectiveness relies on Bailu's ATK stat. Healing, on the other hand, scales with Bailu's HP. Therefore, when building Bailu, it is important to prioritize increasing her HP rather than her ATK, as it will have a greater impact on her healing capabilities.
