Abundant Ebon Deer in Honkai: Star Rail is originally an enemy that players can face since version 1.0, but it’s not until version 1.2 that this foe becomes available as a boss in the Simulated Universe.
Players need to reach Simulated Universe World 7 in Honkai: Star Rail if they wish to beat Abundant Ebon Deer at full power, so some effort is required as World 5 and 6 must be completed beforehand. Once players fulfill the prerequisite, however, it’s important to fully understand the mechanics behind this majestic creature. Otherwise, this being of life will instead cause death to the Trailblazers.
How To Beat Abundant Ebon Deer In Honkai: Star Rail
The Abundant Ebon Deer players face in Honkai: Star Rail Trailblaze mission and Forgotten Hall consists of two phases, but the one people meet in Simulated Universe World 7 is extended to three phases, which means it will be harder to beat.
However, the rest of the stats remain the same, so the boss is still weak to Fire, Ice, and Quantum, has 420 Toughness, and 50% RES to Frozen and Imprisonment debuffs.
In all phases, the boss has the following skills:
- Deal Lightning DMG to a single target
- Deal Wind DMG to everyone
- For every buff the Abundant Ebon Deer gains, DMG dealt by the boss and Branches increases by a small amount
Phase 1
- Phase-exclusive skill: Summons 2 Ambrosial Arbor Branch "Twig of Wintry Wind" or "Twig of Marple Leaf"
At the start of the first phase, the Abundant Ebon Deer will summon two of either "Twig of Wintry Wind" or "Twig of Marple Leaf". The boss can summon the other kind later on.
Twig of Wintry Wind
- Weakness: Ice, Quantum, Imaginary
- Toughness: 90
- Special ability: Deals Wind DMG to a single target and can apply the Outrage debuff. Outraged target can't take action and will use a Basic attack against a random unit from the Abundant Ebon Deer’s side
- Appearance: Somewhat green and blue in color, like winter and wind
Twig of Marple Leaf
- Weakness: Fire, Quantum
- Toughness: 90
- Special ability: Can enhance the Abundant Ebon Deer and boost the boss’ ATK. This Branch can also enter the Counter state, which will cause it to deal Lightning DMG when attacked.
- Appearance: Mostly brown/black with accents of gold
Phase 2
- Phase-exclusive skill: At the start of the phase, summons 2 Twigs of Marple Leaf, 1 Twig of Wintry Wind, and 1 Twig of Glorious Blooms. In battle, the boss can restore HP by a decent amount.
In phase 2, the Abundant Ebon Deer has double recovery skills. One is from the boss’ own moveset, while the other comes from the Twig of Glorious Blooms. When the stage begins, all four Branches will be summoned by the boss.
Twig of Glorious Blooms
- Weakness: Ice, Imaginary
- Toughness: 90
- Special ability: Restore all ally's HP
- Appearance: Has flowers growing on the branches
Phase 3
- Phase-exclusive skill: At the start of the phase, summons 2 Twigs of Lavish Fruits, 1 Twig of Marple Leaf, and 1 Twig of Wintry Wind. The boss later can increase DEF and remove Weakness for a limited number of turns.
In the final phase, the Abundant Ebon Deer goes offensive instead of defensive. The two Twigs of Lavish Fruits don’t attack on their own, but they can produce Lavish Fruits. Once two of these Fruits are produced, the Deer immediately uses Flamboyant Gore, dealing massive Lightning DMG to the entire team. This ability also deals more DMG for each Branch on the field. Once this move is unleashed, existing Twigs will be removed.
Because Twigs of Lavish Fruits enable the Abundant Ebon Deer’s Ultimate, it’s crucial to prioritize destroying these Branches. The fact that the boss can remove Weakness also means players can’t rely on controlling the boss to avoid the Flamboyant Gore.
Twig of Lavish Fruits
- Weakness: Fire, Quantum, Imaginary
- Toughness: 120
- Special ability: Produce Lavish Fruits, so the boss can use Flamboyant Gore
- Appearance: Golden and has fruits hanging from its branches (once it bears Lavish Fruits)
Forgotten Hall Abundant Ebon Deer In Honkai: Star Rail
In the Forgotten Hall, Abundant Ebon Deer only comes in two phases. The boss retains the following skills:
- Deal Lightning DMG to a single target
- Deal Wind DMG to everyone
In phase 1, Ebon Deer will summon one of either Wintry Wind or Marple Leaf. Meanwhile, in phase 2, the boss will summon two types of Branches from the available four. Like in the Simulated Universe version, the boss can use the Ultimate move, Flamboyant Gore, and can also protect Toughness and boost DEF.
Team Composition To Beat Abundant Ebon Deer In Honkai: Star Rail
The Abundant Ebon Deer in Honkai: Star Rail has a lot of different forces, so players should know how to counter each of the Branches. First, a cleanser can come in handy to remove the Outrage debuff given by the Wintry Wind. Next, it’s a great idea to have either Fire or Quantum to reduce both the boss’ and the Branches’ Toughness. Ice and Imaginary are also good, although not as crucial as Fire and Quantum.
For instance, players can try the following samples:
- Seele + Himeko + Asta or Pela + Luocha
- Yanqing + Hook + Natasha + Fire Trailblazer
- Fire Trailblazer + March 7th + Natasha + Qingque or Herta
Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development
