Build Guide |

Erudition characters in Honkai: Star Rail are best known for their ability to hit in an AoE, and Jing Yuan is no different. However, unlike other Erudition characters like Serval and Himeko who simply do what they do, Jing Yuan’s mechanics are slightly more complicated.
Therefore, besides knowing Jing Yuan build in Honkai: Star Rail, players should also be familiar with how the General's mechanics work. This will go a long way in maximizing Jing Yuan’s ability and his Lightning Lord’s strength.
Honkai Star Rail Redeem Codes
Stellar Jades is a crucial currency in Honkai: Star Rail as players need them to get new characters in the game.
Updated on December 27, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: Jing Yuan has been buried down the tier list for so long due to his inability to keep up with the SPD meta in Honkai: Star Rail. Thankfully, with the upcoming release of Remembrance Path in version 3.0, summons like Jing Yuan's Lightning Lord will be relevant once more, especially with the additions of Relic sets and Harmony characters that support it. For that, this guide has been updated to include the newest version of Jing Yuan build in Honkai: Star Rail.

Jing Yuan Best Relics In Honkai: Star Rail
The best Relic set for Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail is The Ashblazing Grand Duke. He can activate the entire 8 stacks on the first follow-up attack his Lightning Lord launches, which grants Jing Yuan up to 48% ATK. Other than that, Band of Sizzling Thunder is still decent if you have good Sub-stats.
If 4pc The Ashblazing Grand Duke is not available, players can mix a 2pc with other offensive Relics such as Band of Sizzling Thunder, Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters, Scholar Lost in Erudition, Musketeer of Wild Wheat, Prisoner in Deep Confinement, or The Wind-Soaring Valorous.
As for the Planar Ornament, The Wondrous BananAmusement Park is the best option to maximize Crit DMG, but the original Inert Salsotto is also great for increasing the General’s Crit Rate along with his Ultimate and follow-up DMG. Space Sealing Station and Firmament Frontline: Glamoth are good replacements, but they don’t come close to how good follow-up attack buff is on Jing Yuan.
Jing Yuan Best Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail
Other than Jing Yuan’s best-in-slot Light Cone, Before Dawn, the 5-star Himeko weapon in Honkai: Star Rail, Night on the Milky Way is also viable for him. Even though the passive is not perfect for the General, the fact that it’s a piece of 5-star equipment is enough to outperform some 4-star options. Similarly, Yet Hope Is Priceless, and An Instant Before A Gaze are great as stat-sticks to boost Jing Yuan's Crit.
For 4-star Light Cones, the Honkai: Star Rail Battle Pass weapon, Today is Another Peaceful Day is brilliant as it gives an unconditional, universal DMG Bonus to Jing Yuan. As for non-spenders, those who won The Birth of the Self Light Cone from the Warps can totally use it on Jing Yuan as it enhances the follow-up attack DMG done by his Lightning Lord. Genius' Repose is also viable, although not as good as the other non-F2P options.
Finally, F2P players can use The Seriousness of Breakfast or The Day The Cosmos Fell. Both Light Cones can be obtained from the Forgotten Hall, while The Seriousness of Breakfast can additionally be obtained by doing quests, or even by opening the triple authentication door in Honkai: Star Rail.
Jing Yuan Trace Priority In Honkai: Star Rail
Jing Yuan’s Talent in Honkai: Star Rail is the main priority when it comes to his Trace, as his Lightning Lord damage scales with it. Afterward, Skill and Ultimate come in second place, and Basic Attack is the least important for the General.

How To Play Jing Yuan In Honkai: Star Rail
Jing Yuan is a unique Erudition character whose playstyle mostly revolves around his Lightning Lord (LL). Jing Yuan’s LL damage is considered a follow-up attack, so players can use items that enhance follow-up DMG or Blessings of Elation in the Simulated Universe.
The Lightning Lord has a base SPD of 60 and will hit automatically (players can see this on the turn-sequence on the top-left). It has a minimum of three stacks and can have up to 10. Each stack dictates how many hits the LL will do, and every additional stack also increases its SPD by 10. To obtain more stacks, players must use Skill and Ultimate, which add two and three stacks, respectively.
When its turn comes, the Lightning Lord will attack three enemies at a time, one main target and two adjacent targets. The main target will take full damage, while the enemies next to it will suffer 25% of the original DMG. Note that this main target is random, so the LL may hit an enemy at the end of the line and only hit one adjacent target along with it. Fortunately, each LL hit has a different main target, which means the RNG won’t be too cruel even when this happens.
Typically, the Lightning Lord will move shortly after Jing Yuan uses his Skill, so players will only have five stacks. The fact that he needs three to four Skill casts to refill his Ultimate can make it quite tough for players to have more than five stacks, which is why SPD boost and SPD stat can come in handy for him. Having more than five stacks is even more crucial once players unlock Jing Yuan’s Ascension 2 Trace, which increases the Lightning Lord’s Crit DMG by 25%.
