Break DMG has been getting a lot of new characters lately, which has boosted its usage in Honkai: Star Rail. The newest addition in version 2.6 is a Galaxy Ranger who calls herself the Dazzling Ninja, and her banner goes together with Dan Heng's alternate form, Imbibitor Lunae.
Rappa is a Erudition unit that deals Imaginary DMG to enemies. As a Erudition, Rappa has an arsenal of AoE attacks that can compete with Dan Heng’s hits. Since both are featured on the same banner, it’s natural to wonder is Rappa worth it in Honkai: Star Rail to compete with a top-notch DPS like Imbibitor Lunae.

Rappa and Dan Heng's comparison is interesting because both units tend to inflict AoE Imaginary DMG. If you’re looking for an Imaginary DPS, you definitely need to compare both units to know who’s better for your teams in Honkai: Star Rail.
Roles
Starting by comparing Rappa and Dan Heng’s roles, Rappa operates as a main DPS capable of dealing a lot of AoE DMG. One of her best pros is her ability to deplete enemies’ Toughness even if they weren’t weak to Imaginary. However, in the break DMG field, Imaginary is weaker than other elements considering the element’s low multiplier when you break Toughness. For that, Rappa really needs a team that can buff her and debuff enemies to carry her DPS. But once you set this up, she’s a destructive force.
Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae is a classic DPS who depends on ATK and Crit to deal DMG in Honkai: Star Rail. On release, he had an issue with consuming too many Skill points on each turn, but many of the newer characters solved this problem and made an Imbibitor Lunae team powerful enough to compete with all the power-creeping that happened.
In terms of roles, both Rappa and Imbibitor Lunae are powerful AoE DPS who deal damage with Ultimate and enhanced Basic ATK.
Builds
As Rappa follows the Erudition path and Imbibitor Lunae follows the Destruction path, both units work with different options when it comes to Light Cones. Dan Heng is very F2P since one of his best Light Cones is On the Fall of an Aeon, which grants him a decent amount of ATK% and DMG. On the other hand, Rappa needs a Light Cone that increases her Break DMG, which is not something popular for Erudition units in Honkai: Star Rail.
Dan Heng wins in terms of F2P build since he can play perfectly fine with a couple of F2P options, while Rappa suffers a little bit of a drawback if she doesn’t have a Break DMG buff in her Light Cone.
Meanwhile, when it comes to teammates, Rappa works with Break supports like Ruan Mei, Lingsha, and Harmony MC. Whereas Dan Heng IL needs Energy restoration or Skill Point recovery, so characters like Sparkle, Tingyun, and Huohuo are perfect for Imbibitor Lunae.
