Honkai: Star Rail introduced a permanent expansion to Simulated Universe, under the name of Swarm Disaster, where players are able to earn a variety of rewards while also experiencing stories around the Aeons. In concept, there are many similarities between normal Worlds and Swarm Disaster, but there are also notable differences.

One such difference is related to Planar Disarray in Honkai: Star Rail, which players must trigger to complete some missions and achievements. Overall, this is not a very difficult task, but players will need to plan around this aspect while exploring the Swarm Disaster.

How To Trigger Planar Disarray

Planar Disarray triggers after the countdown reaches zero, as explained during the tutorial quest. Normally, each time players take a movement action on the plane map, the countdown decreases by one, bringing them closer to entering Planar Disarray mode. To reach Planar Disarray as quickly as possible, players are recommended to explore more paths before reaching the Boss. In other words, instead of taking a direct route, they may want to choose the longest path available, especially if they are going for higher Planar Disarray levels. However, even without aiming to do so, there is a high likelihood of reaching the Planar Disarray state by Plane 3 map.

Regarding the Trail of Pathstrider missions, which require the triggering of Planar Disarrays a specific number of times, it's important to note that activating different levels of Planar Disarray will not count towards this goal. Players will need to explore the Swarm Disaster mode multiple times to accomplish this objective. Nonetheless, even triggering the lowest level of Planar Disarray will suffice.

Although the Abundance path is generally valuable in the Simulated Universe, it is not advisable to select it when aiming to trigger Planar Disarray. This is because the Abundance path thrives with a higher countdown timer, and it strategically deploys "Mercy" fields on the map, which enable players to increase the countdown instead of diminishing it.

Planar Disarray Levels

Planar Disarray grants buffs to each enemy based on the level of disarray reached. Players can progress to unlimited levels of Planar Disarray, but only up to Level 20 will provide additional enhancements for these enemies. Enemies receive increased buffs every 5 or 10 levels until Level 20. Therefore, on lower Planar Disarray levels, players won't face significant challenges. However, attempting higher-level disarrays, especially on higher difficulties, without investing much in Communing Trail points can make clearing even basic enemies quite difficult, especially since they stack up. Here's a breakdown of the enemy buffs for each level:

  • Level 1-5: Each level increases the DMG dealt by all enemy targets by 5% and reduces the DMG received by 4%
  • Level 6-10: Each level increases the DMG dealt by all enemy targets by 10% reduces the DMG received by %4, and increases SPD by 5%.
  • Level 11-20: Each level increases the DMG dealt by all enemy targets by 20% reduces the DMG received by %4, and increases SPD by 10%.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Mobile and PC. A PS5 version is in development.
