The RPG has already offered free login rewards to Honkai: Star Rail players multiple times as well as partnering with Amazon Prime Gaming, providing plenty of Stellar Jades and Star Rail Special Passes. Now, new leaks suggest a free four-star character will be available in a future update.

Honkai: Star Rail's free character would not be the first time the HoYoverse RPG has granted free units to players from its roster. HoYoverse's pre-registration campaign for Star Rail rewarded players with a free copy of Serval for passing the 3.5 million user milestone, a goal that was quickly shattered by the game's excited fans. The RPG has also included four-star characters like Sushang and Herta as rewards for clearing in-game events within Honkai: Star Rail. According to recent leaks, even more freebies are on the way for players with Star Rail's Version 1.4.

A new item uploaded to Honkai: Star Rail's "Honey Hunter World" database has revealed a free four-star character coming during Version 1.4. The datamined description reveals players will be able to use the in-game item to claim a free copy of either Luka, Serval, Hook, or Pela. No information was shared about how players will obtain the item in-game with Luka serving as the only available character not in the game's launch roster. Luka was introduced alongside Kafka during the second half of Honkai: Star Rail's ongoing Version 1.2 update.

Along with their free availability in Version 1.4, three of the four featured characters are rumored to be appearing throughout the coming updates. HoYoverse has officially confirmed both Hook and Pela will appear during Version 1.3, with both running alongside the new five-star character Fu Xuan. Leaks have suggested the debut of the Version 1.4 update will also see Luka reappearing on the limited gacha banner, reportedly as part of Topaz's banner alongside the new four-star character Guinaifen.

The addition of a new free reward for players will come as Honkai: Star Rail has expanded its roster considerably since the game's April debut. Each new update to Star Rail has introduced a trio of new characters with the upcoming Version 1.3 adding Imbibitor Lunae, Fu Xuan, and Lynx to the roster. Rumors have also suggested the game may soon see more crossover characters from Honkai Impact 3rd, including Star Rail versions of Raiden Mei and Yae Sakura.
