The new four-star character introduced with the version 1.2 update of Honkai: Star Rail, Luka, is able to fulfill a variety of roles in the team composition, thanks to the nature of his kit. Known as a Wildfire member and a martial arts performer, Luka joins the roster as the first character with a dedicated Physical DoT application, namely Bleed, making him quite unique.

While DoT builds may not be as prevalent in Honkai: Star Rail yet, with the introduction of other characters like Kafka, players may want to look into the concept. In fact, especially with the Nihility path in the Simulated Universe, this may prove itself to be quite fun. Nevertheless, considering that Luka also has access to other enemy debuffs, as well as enhanced basic attacks, he can also fulfill other roles, depending on the need of the players and the content. As such, here are some best team compositions players can consider, providing different characters to ensure each player can find something that fits their play style and character roster.

Luka + Yukong + Asta + Natasha

Honkai_ Star Rail Luka Team Comp Yukong Asta Natasha

In this team composition, players will be focusing on Luka as the primary DPS of the team, making good use of his enhanced basic attack, which activates after having 4 stacks of Fighting Will that are easily gained after Luka uses a basic attack, skill, or ultimate, amongst other ways. In particular, with his Eidolons activated and his bonus abilities unlocked upon ascension, his potential as the main DPS grows, as he can simply deal more damage with his enhanced basic attacks.

Additionally, except for Luka, all of these characters are freely obtainable, allowing players to build a team without spending many resources. In this composition, Luka is accompanied by two Harmony characters, who will both increase the ATK of the team, and Yukong increasing Crit DMG and Rate, and Asta increasing the speed of the entire team. Natasha is the healer of the team, however, if players have access to other healer characters like Luocha, this can also work quite effectively, in particular considering that then Luocha can also benefit from Yukong and Asta's attack buff to increase his heal potential.

Luka + Yanqing + Pela + March 7th

While a more situational team composition, consisting of three Ice characters and Luka, this composition can come in quite handy when players may not have access to any healers for this particular team, while needing to focus on Ice and Physical weakness breaking, such as in Forgotten Hall levels. In this instance, Luka will perform as a sub-DPS and buff dispeller, alongside Pela. As such, if the players are tackling content where the enemy often buffs themselves while also debuffing the characters, this team has an excellent counter against this, with March 7th also being able to dispel debuffs from the team members.

What makes Luka also work viably in this composition is due to the fact that he is not particularly reliant on Skill points, similar to Pela and March 7th as well, allowing Yanqing to have access to skill points as often as possible. Furthermore, since Yanqing can increase his own Crit Rate and Crit DMG, he can synergize well with Pela's enemy debuffs, rather than requiring Harmony characters in the team. Additionally, as with many hunt characters, Yanqing has fewer chances to be attacked, which allows March 7th to focus on shielding another character.

Luka + Serval + Tingyun+ Bailu

Another team composition, similar to the one above, can be when Luka is combined with Serval, who is another DoT enabler. This time, however, the team primarily focuses on Lightning Damage, with Luka primarily focusing on consistently upkeeping DoT to deal significant damage each time. On the other hand, Serval will be inflicting Shock on the enemies, and both combined with their great scaling even as 4-star characters will be able to tackle a variety of content.

In this instance, players may also utilize Tingyun; however, they will need to choose who to buff based on the situation at hand, since both Luka and Serval can essentially benefit from her buffs. Meanwhile, Bailu will be working as the dedicated healer to keep up with the healing. While this is a quite straightforward team, those who want to focus on different types of DoT's may also want to consider replacing Tingyun with another character like Sampo or Hook.

Luka + Clara + Silver Wolf + Natasha

Players who are interested in expanding their mono-Physical teams can also use Luka alongside Clara. If players do not have access to Clara, utilizing Sushang instead can also work, as both of these characters will essentially be functioning as the main DPS of the team, with Luka helping out with his buff dispels, as well as Bleed DoTs. What makes this team particularly viable and versatile is including a character like Silver Wolf, who will not only debuff the enemies for them to take more damage but, thanks to her unique ability, can implant a weakness to the enemy based on the team's respective elements.

As such, even against enemies who are not originally weak against Physical, this team will be able to work. Here, Natasha once again will be the dedicated healer, while also being able to deal damage, especially considering that Clara, in particular, is not as reliant on a healer. With both single-target and AoE DMG potential combined, this team can be particularly formidable in many different types of content.

Luka + Kafka + Sampo + Luocha

Honkai_ Star Rail Luka Team Comp Kafka Sampo Luocha

Considering that Luka first gets introduced under Kafka's limited-time banner, many players may have gotten him simply while trying to get Kafka instead. Luckily, however, all characters under Kafka's banner, including Luka, actually make perfect team members for her, since Kafka particularly gets stronger with each DoT applied to the enemy. As such, with this team composition, players will be essentially able to inflict Bleed, Wind Shear, and Shock consistently, while also allowing both the DoTs and Kafka to do more damage.

On the other hand, for defensive purposes, players may consider including Luocha in the team, who will ensure that the team members can maintain high HP while being a significant skill point-positive character that enables the rest of the team (in particular Kafka) to focus on the team. Otherwise, if players do not have access to Luocha, they can still consider other Abundance or Preservation characters, such as Gepard. In any instance, however, Luka, Sampo, and Kafka combined make one of the best team compositions for both Luka and Kafka. Nevertheless, players can swap Sampo for Hook if the content requires Fire weakness over Wind as well.
