Speed is a very important stat for your characters in Honkai: Star Rail. This will determine how often your character can perform an action in one cycle. Being able to take more turns will make it easier for you to finish off enemies quickly before they can even get a hit on you.
Along with Speed, you have Speed Breakpoints, which is a certain threshold that determines the exact number of turns your character will be able to take. If this stat is a bit confusing to you, and you are unsure how to use it to your advantage, we will explain it in the simplest terms.

What Is Speed in Honkai: Star Rail?
In Honkai: Star Rail, Speed is the stat that determines how quickly your character will be able to perform an action, as well as how often they can perform an action in a cycle. Essentially, to break it down into simpler terms, if your character has a higher Speed stat, they will most likely be able to perform an action first before an enemy, and they'll be able to more frequently perform actions before other team members and enemies. In the Forgotten Hall and Pure Fiction game modes, you'll be able to see the turn cycles on the left side of your screen.
There are characters with abilities to boost your whole team's Speed, such as Asta, so you won't have to worry about building up your other character's Speed stat as much.
What Are Speed Breakpoints in Honkai: Star Rail?
Now that you know what Speed is, you might be wondering what exactly Speed Breakpoints are. Speed Breakpoints are specific numbers of your character's Speed stat that they need to reach in order to see an increase in their number of turns for each cycle. For example, if a character starts with a Speed stat of 90, they will only be able to have one turn in Cycle 0. However, if you increase their Speed to 134, this will increase to two turns in Cycle 0.
There is a certain method you can use to determine the Speed Breakpoints of your specific character based on their Speed stat. This will help you more accurately determine how many turns you can expect your character to take in all 6 cycles.

How to Calculate Speed Breakpoints in Honkai: Star Rail
If you want to calculate the Speed Breakpoints of your character, we will use an example to help you out. Our Asta build has a Speed stat of 134. To calculate her Speed Breakpoints, you'll want to start by finding her Action Value. Here's what you'll need to do:
- Action Value - 10,000 divided by Speed (134 for Asta) = 74.63
The lower the Action Value, the faster your character will be able to take action. After calculating this, you'll want to determine Asta's Action Value for a total of 6 cycles.
- 6 Turn Cycles in Forgotten Hall = 650 Action Value
- Asta's Action Value x 6 = 447.78
- 650 divided by 447.78 x 6 = 8.71
With a final value of 8.71, this means that Asta will take a total of 8 turns within the 6 cycles in the Forgotten Hall. You can use this strategy on your other characters who have differing Speed stats to determine where their Speed Breakpoints will lie. We highly recommend giving your character at least 134 for their Speed, as this is where they'll be able to start with 2 turns in Cycle 0 rather than 1.
